Let's Have a Preschool Picnic

Here are some ideas for having a picnic with young children in your preschool program. Remember picnics can be just as fun indoors on a dreary day.

Start out by decorating your own picnic blanket. An old flat sheet works best. Let the children paint on the sheet using either tempra or fabric paints!

Picnic Tossing: Have children take turns tossing plastic play food into a picnic basket. Keep moving the basket farther away to see how far they can throw the items.

Ants go Marching: Play the song 'The Ants Go Marching' and let children march around room or outdoor area.

Picnic Art

Picnic Placemats: Have children dip small, square sponges in red paint then stamp onto white paper in checkerboard format. When dry, glue ant pictures or plastic ants or ant stickers to the placemats to add some character.

How to Make a Paper Plate Watermelon: From FamilyCrafts.com: Make a craft that looks like a slice of watermelon using a paper plate and real watermelon seeds.

Ant Thumbprints: Make thumbprints with black paint or an inkpad. When dry, add legs and faces and other scenery.

Picnic Math

Picnic Sorting: Cut about 4 shapes of picnic foods 1-4" in size from construction paper. (Example: chicken leg, cookie, strawberry, watermelon slice, hot dog, ear of corn). Using plastic ants, see how many ants it takes to cover each food and record answer.

Das 3-stündige Schuften in der Küche gestern Abend hat sich gelohnt! Heute Nachmittag steigt die große Schatzsucher-Geburtstagsparty mit Picknick und fast alles ist vorbereitet:

Hehe ja alles was ungesund ist, schmeckt meinen auch doppelt gut (eh klar).

Da versuch ich dann immer mit ein paar "spaßigen" gesunden Snacks gegenzusteuern. Wenn's bunt ist und lustig aussieht, schmeckt's eigentlich immer ;-).

Arts & Crafts

Duplicate picnic basket patterns on white construction paper. Have the children decorate, paint, or color the baskets as they choose. After the children have cut the baskets out, staple around the outer edge so the basket is sealed closed. Then give the children several magazines with a lot of food item pictures to choose from. The children may then choose the food they would like to take with them on a picnic. After cutting or tearing out the pictures and placing them in the basket, have a pretend picnic inside. Of course this can become as elaborate as the caregiver and children wish. We have had at our picnics ants (raisins) and wooly worms on sprigs of greeenery etc.

We made placemats for our picnic tables today. We used wooden ABC blocks and card stock. Each child picked a color and dipped his/her block in it and then made a checker board print on their paper. I put their names in the bottom corner and laminated them when dried. They look like the red checked tablecloths you can buy.

Tear or cut pictures of nutritious foods out of magazines. Give each of your children a paper plate. Let the children brush glue on their plates. Then let them choose food pictures and place them on top of the glue. Display the plates on construction-paper "placemats," if desired.

Make an ant shape about the size of a peanut from black, blue, red construction paper. With help pole 3 holes in the body. For the legs, place 2 paper fasteners into two holes next to each other and open to lie flat. Turn the ant over and place another paper fastener, point side up in the last hole. Bend back slightly. Draw some food on a paper plate, put the ants on the plate and place a magnet underneath. Make the ants crawl by moving the magnet.

Indoor Winter Picnic

Plan an indoor winter picnic Even in winter, it's not too early for summer fun. If your family gets the midwinter blahs every year with all the home and office cleaning and not much fun in the sun, lift your spirits with this "summertime without the mosquitoes" activity. Surprise your family with an indoor winter picnic. Spread out a checkered tablecloth on the dining room floor or in front of a fireplace. Serve cold chicken and potato salad, corn-on-the-cob, pickles, carrot sticks, and chips. Enjoy a fresh fruit salad or an ice cream bar for dessert. Wear summer shirts and hats and play summertime music on a tape recorder to set the mood. Tease the family by placing plastic ants or a plastic spider on an unsuspecting person's plate!

Have the children sit in a circle and start with the letter "A"

I'm going on a picnic and I'm going to bring (name something with an "A.") The next child has to remember what the "A" item was and add a "B" item, so on and so forth. It's fun when the children have to remember a bunch, you'll be really surprised as to how much they can remember.

A Simple Picnic

How about, simply having a picnic in the living room or any other room in the house with the children. Set up everything just as you where going to the park but go to the living room instead. My kids love to do this and we do it at least once every month especially on rainy days and even in the winter. Have fun!

Enjoy a snowbank picnic Whether your outing is skating at a frozen pond, snowshoeing in the woods, or cross-country skiing at a nature reserve, bring along a simple picnic to enjoy. When it's time to eat, spread out a blanket in a sunny area and gather your outdoor enthusiasts for a cozy meal. Everyone can savor a bowl of hot chili served with crusty bread, hot chocolate, tea, or coffee. For dessert, bring along citrus fruit or cookies with dates, raisins, and nuts.

Procedure: Choose a child to be a mischievous little squirrel who takes 1 item while the others cover their eyes. Children then try to guess which item is missing. Extension: Enjoy some picnic food after the game.

Have a picnic on blankets -- children make their own sandwiches and pack them with junior juices (drinking boxes) in brown paper bags. Children bring their teddy bears to school. Dance to the song "Teddy Bears Picnic" with their teddy bears.

Picnic Bulletin Board

Give each student a paper plate. Have students dip apple and pear halves in paint and stamp them on their plates to make fruit paints. Have students glue five plastic ants (or dried black beans) to their dry plate. Staple a large tablecloth to a bulletin board and staple the decorated plates around the tablecloth's edge. Cut a large rectangle from yellow butcher paper and staple in the center of the tablecloth. On the rectangle write the following poem "Ants at a Picnic" (see Songs & Fingerplays above).

Prepare healthful snacks like grapes, carrot sticks, orange slices, apple slices, celery sticks filled with peanut butter, and bites of cheese. Invite your children to help wash, peel, and slice. Children enjoy preparing these treats. Pack everything in a basket for a picnic outside. This is even fun indoors on a rainy day or in front of a fireplace on a winter day.

Have a picture of a picnic basket ( a large one) and have chilren glue food onto it. You can also have a picture of a blanket next to it and glue people on it. Talk about actions, label foods, and actually plan to have a picnic of your own and talk about what you are going to do.

11 leckere Snacks, die ihr zu unserem Picknick mitbringen könnt

Die 11 schönsten Weihnachtsmärkte in Berlin 2017

Freunde des Sommers, am Wochenende hat sich wieder besseres Wetter angemeldet (das Thermometer klettert auch wieder über die 25 Grad-Marke) und wir picknicken am Sonntag ganz vergnügt in großer Runde. Die große Frage, die sich da immer stellt, lautet: Was bringe ich mit? Klar, hart gekochte Eier, Melonen und Frikadellen sind immer eine sichere Nummer. Wir haben trotzdem mal nach 11 Snacks gesucht, die ganz fix gezaubert sind und euch dennoch wie den Picknickkönig aussehen lassen. Happi, Happi.

1. Kichererbsensalat

1 rote Zwiebel in Würfel geschnitten | 1 frische rote Chilischote kleingehackt | Saft von 1-2 Zitronen | 1 Bund Minze kleingehackt | 2 Dosen Kichererbsen | 1 Päckchen kl. Tomaten | 1 Packung Feta | Olivenöl

Kichererbsen in einer Pfanne kurz erwärmen, zur Hälfte in die Salatschüssel füllen, andere Hälfte ein bisschen zerdrücken und ebenfalls hinzufügen. Mit Olivenöl und Zitronensaft überträufeln, Zwiebeln & Chili dazu. Tomaten halbieren und ebenfalls hinzufügen. Als letztes Minze hinzufügen und den Feta hinein bröseln. Salzen, pfeffern, bis zum Picknick kaltstellen. Schmeckt durch Minze und Zitrone sehr erfrischend! Das Rezept stammt von Jamie Oliver. Ihr findet es im Original nochmal hier.

2. Italienischer Nudelsalat

500g Farfalle oder Penne | 1 Knoblauchzehe | 1 Packung kl. Tomaten | 1 Bund Basilikum | 1 Packung Feta | 1 Dose getrocknete Tomaten | 1 Dose schwarze Oliven | Rucola

Nudeln kochen. Währenddessen Knoblauch und Basilikum kleinhacken, Tomätchen halbieren, Oliven und getrocknete Tomaten in dünne Streifen schneiden (Öl aufbewahren!). Fertige Nudeln beim Abgießen kurz mit kaltem Wasser abkühlen. Anschließend mit den bereits genannten Zutaten vermischen, Tomaten-Öl dazu, mit Salz und Pfeffer abschmecken. Feta drüber bröseln. Den Rucola – so viel ihr möchtet – am besten erst kurz vorm Gehen hinzufügen, sonst wird er so labberig. Statt Nudeln könnt ihr übrigens auch Couscous verwenden – schmeckt auch super. 3. Dips und Gemüse

1 Packung Frischkäse | 3 Stangen Frühlingszwiebeln in feine Ringe geschnitten | ein Schuss Milch | Salz | Pfeffer | Paprikagewürz | zum Dippen: Gemüse eurer Wahl in Streifen geschnitten (Möhren, Gurken, Kohlrabi)

Frischkäse und Co. mischen, abschmecken. Mit einem Schuss Milch wird das Ganze cremiger.

4. Mini-Pizzen aus Blätterteig

1 Packung fertiger Blätterteig | Tomatenmark | getrocknetes Basilikum & Oregano | 1/2 Paprika in feine Streifen geschnitten | 1 Mozarella kleingeschnitten | 1 rote Zwiebel in feine Ringe geschnitten

Blätterteig ausrollen, in etwa 8 gleichgroße Vierecke aufteilen. Auf mit Backpapier ausgelegtem Backblech verteilen. Jedes Teigstück mit etwas Tomatenmark bestreichen, mit Basilikum, Oregano, Salz und Pfeffer würzen. Mit Mozarella, Paprika, Zwiebel belegen (nicht zu voll!). Im Ofen nach Packungsangabe backen. 5. Wraps mit Guacamole-Frischkäse-Füllung

4 Tortilla-Wraps | Frischkäse | 2 Avocado | 1 Knoblauchzehe | 1 Tomate in sehr kleine Würfel geschnitten | 1/2 Paprika in sehr kleine Würfel geschnitten | 1/2 rote Zwiebel in sehr kleine Würfel geschnitten | Salz | Pfeffer | Zitronensaft

Avocado pürieren, mit Knoblauch, Tomate, Paprika und Zwiebel mischen. Mit Zitronensaft, Salz und Pfeffer abschmecken. Die Tortilla-Wraps jeweils kurz erwärmen (dann lassen sie sich besser rollen), mit Frischkäse bestreichen, dann Guacamole gleichmäßig darauf verteilen. Wrap rollen und in etwa zwei Finger breite Scheiben schneiden. Falls ihr das Gefühl habt, die Wrapschnecken fallen zu leicht auseinander, sichert sie mit Holzstäbchen, die ihr einmal quer durchstecht. Wer Lust hat, kann die Wraps auch jeweils noch mit einem großen Blatt Eisbergsalat auffrischen. Wer noch mehr Inspiration braucht: Noch mehr Rezepte für "Wrap Pinwheels" findet ihr hier.

6. Vegane Birnen-Nuss-Tarte

1 Tarte- oder Springform von 26 cm Ø | 170g Mehl | 100g kalte vegane Margarine | 1 Prise Salz | 250g Hülsenfrüchte zum Blindbacken | 6 EL veganen Frischkäse | 2 EL Cashewmus | 3 große feste Birnen (ca. 600g) | 2 EL Limettensaft | 1 EL Öl | 2 EL Ahornsirup | 3 Stängel frischer Thymian gehackt | 3 TL grob gehackte Walnüsse | 50ml trockener Weißwein

Für den Boden Mehl, kalte Margarine, Salz und 1-2 EL Wasser zu Teig verkneten. 1 Stunde im Kühlschrank ruhen lassen. Backofen auf 180 Grad vorheizen. Teig ausrollen, in die eingefettete Tarteform legen, mit Backpapier und Hülsenfrüchten belegen. Im Backofen auf mittlerer Schiene ca. 15 Minuten vorbacken. Backpapier und Hülsenfrüchte entfernen.

Frischkäse mit Cashewmus mischen, mit Salz abschmecken und auf dem Boden verteilen. Tarte weitere 10 Minuten backen. Inzwischen die Birnen in schmale Spalten schneiden. Mit Limettensaft beträufeln und in einer Pfanne mit Öl von jeder Seite ca. 1 Minute braten. Ahornsirup, Thymian, Nüsse und Wein dazugeben, salzen und pfeffern. Die Flüssigkeit 3-5 Minuten einkochen lassen. Die Tarte aus dem Backofen nehmen, die Birnen auf der Tarte verteilen, ein bisschen frischen Thymian zur Deko darauf verteilen. 7. Melonen-Cheesecake ohne Backen

200g Mandeln | 150g Dattteln (über Nacht in Wasser eingeweicht) | 70g Kokosnussflocken | 1/2 Zitrone | 300g Cashewnüsse (über Nacht in Wasser eingeweicht) | 2 EL Kokosöl | 60ml Ahornsirup | 1 Vanilleschote | 1 Zitrone | 5 Erdbeeren| 1 Wassermelone

Für den leckeren Kuchen braucht ihr keinen Ofen, nur ein Gefrierfach. Fräulein Zucker zeigt euch hier, wie das geht.

8. Blaubeermuffins

500g Mehl | 250g Zucker | 1 Pck. Backpulver | 2 TL Salz | 375g Blaubeeren | 2 Eier oder Ei-Ersatz | 100 ml Öl | 150g Margarine | 50g brauner Zucker | 100ml Milch | 200g Naturjoghurt

Muffins sind die perfekten Begleiter zum Picknick. In diesen ist nicht mal Schokolade, die schmelzen kann. Das ganze Rezept, inklusive süßer Fräulein Zucker findet ihr hier.

9. Bananenbrot

3 reife Bananen | 50g weiche Butter | 1/2 Packung Backpulver | 150g Mehl | 50g Nüsse (grob) gehackt | 50g Nüsse gemahlen | 50g Zucker | Zimt | Prise Salz

Geschmacklich irgendwo zwischen Kuchen und Brot einzuordnen: In einem Bananenbrot könnt ihr wunderbar eure reifen Bananen verarbeiten. Einfach Bananen pürieren, mit Backpulver und Mehl mischen. Nüsse und Zimt dazu und Teig in eine gefettete Kastenform füllen. Im vorgeheizten Ofen bei 180 Grad für etwa 15-20 Minuten backen. Das Rezept könnt ihr verändern, wie ihr mögt, zum Beispiel mit Datteln oder Apfelstücken auffrischen. Hier findet ihr zum Beispiel ein Rezept mit Leinsamen und Datteln.

10. Obstspieße

Weintrauben | Erdbeeren | Nektarinen | Bananen | Zitronen zum Beträufeln | Holzspieße

Sieht hübsch aus und lässt sich besser snacken als Obstsalat: Obst in mundgerechte Stücke schneiden, aufspießen, fertig. Mit Zitrone beträufeln, damit das Obst auch später noch frisch aussieht.

11. Selbstgemachte Limo

5 Bio-Zitronen | 150g Zucker | 1 Prise Salz | 120 ml Leitungswasser | 1,5 l Mineralwasser | Scheiben einer Zitrone (gefroren) zur Deko

Die Zitronen gut waschen und die Schale mit einer Reibe fein abreiben. Anschließend die Zitronen auspressen. Saft und abgeriebene Schale mit Zucker, Salz und 120ml Leitungswasser im Topf erhitzen und ca. 5 Minuten kochen lassen. Vom Herd nehmen, abkühlen lassen und den Sirup in eine Flasche füllen. Mischt für die Limo Sirup und Mineralwasser etwa im Verhältnis 1:10. Sofern ihr ein Behältnis habt, bei dem das funktioniert: Schmeißt kurz bevor ihr zum Picknick aufbrecht noch ein paar gefrorene Zitronenscheiben mit rein. Sieht hübsch aus und kühlt. Ein paar ziemlich gute Picknick-Tipps obendrauf

1. Packt das Dressing für Salate separat ein und macht es erst hinterher an den Salat. So wird er nicht labberig.

2. Beträufelt Obst mit Zitronensaft, damit es nicht braun wird.

What are the advantages?

The PONS Dictionary delivers the reliability of a dictionary which has been editorially reviewed and expanded over the course of decades. In addition, the Dictionary is now supplemented with millions of real-life translation examples from external sources. So, now you can see how a concept is translated in specific contexts. You can find the answers to questions like “Can you really say … in German?” And so, you will produce more stylistically sophisticated translations.

Where do the “Examples from the Internet” come from?

The “Examples from the Internet” do, in fact, come from the Internet. We are able to identify trustworthy translations with the aid of automated processes. The main sources we used are professionally translated company, and academic, websites. In addition, we have included websites of international organizations such as the European Union. Because of the overwhelming data volume, it has not been possible to carry out a manual editorial check on all of these documents. So, we logically cannot guarantee the quality of each and every translation. This is why they are marked “not verified by PONS editors”.

What are our future plans?

We are working on continually optimizing the quality of our usage examples by improving their relevance as well as the translations. In addition, we have begun to apply this technology to further languages in order to build up usage-example databases for other language pairs. We also aim to integrate these usage examples into our mobile applications (mobile website, apps) as quickly as possible.
