It is HUGE, and after heating it up on high for 30 minutes, I put a small fillet steak on it, it did leave sear marks but took almost 30 more minutes to cook, was barely warm inside and I threw it out as it tasted more steamed than anything else and I was afraid it wouldn't be safe to eat.

How to BBQ like an absolute professional

Latest from Metro.co.uk »

Former US security advisor 'willing to testify against Trump' after lying to the FBI

  • Trump's former security adviser Michael Flynn pleads guilty to lying to FBI

Nothing says summer more than a flawless barbecue. But there are pros at this game and there are amateurs.

We are not here for your burnt sausages, burgers or chicken drumsticks. This is about getting the kit – and the skills – that will raise your barbecue game.

Barbecuing 2017 style is about slow-cooking, indirect heat, big joints, chargrilled fish and light marinades.

With the right prep you too can BBQ like a baller. Here’s a rundown of what you need for the perfect barbecue and where to get it.

    A VIEW TO A GRILL

Okay. Big decision time: Charcoal, gas or electric?

In a nutshell: Charcoal is for the purist. Many will argue that it gives the best flavour (though plenty of gas-lovers will disagree) but it takes longer to heat and is more expensive to fuel. Less likely to use it for a spontaneous Saturday morning sausage sandwich or quick post-work barbecue, but there’s a real sense of ceremony and you can fully geek out on naturally sourced woods and charcoals and smoking chips with different flavours, rather than using hard-to-light supermarket briquettes and noxious fire-lighters.

Gas grills are for the multitasker. They are easy. Just press a button and five minutes later you are ready to go. Flavour wise, the received wisdom is that they won’t get the same depth of flavour as you would with a charcoal barbecue, though there are plenty of gas fanatics who will assert that you can’t tell the difference.

What is certainly true is that you can get a really good heat on them quickly, you can control the heat very specifically meaning that even amateurs can work with slow-cooked meats – and you can buy smoking boxes to place under the grill that will help to add flavour.

Electric grills are for the pragmatist. They are the easiest; they heat up quickly, don’t require fuel and can be used anywhere, including in small spaces or balconies but without the open flames and the smoke, the flavour isn’t the same.

    Here are Metro’s top picks:

Weber is THE name in grills in the UK and basically the gold standard. We love the new Master-Touch GBS which is pretty much their original kettle BBQ but fully loaded.

Easy clean, has a thermometer in the lid and you can remove a circular part in the grill to add a wok, griddle, waffle maker, pizza stone etc. There is also an ‘ash catcher’ that’s rust-proof, two baskets for holding charcoal, a charcoal measuring cup and plenty of room for enough steaks for the whole crew.

Top tip: use it with Weber’s chimney starters which get it going great guns.

A gas BBQ tricked out with the works, the Campingaz 4 Series Classic LS will firmly cement your player status.

With a built-in ignition, firing it up is easy and an integrated thermometer in the lid makes it easy to ensure you get the temp right.

The coolest part is, it has a Culinary Modular System which means you can switch it up with a range of accessories and roast a chicken, cook a pizza and make a vegetarian stir fry al fresco.

And the InstaClean is a dream – you can take off the cooking surfaces in 60 seconds and whizz them in the dishwasher.

If your party spot doesn’t allow briquettes and gas, the Weber Q1400 electric grill is the one you want.

Heating up to over 600 degrees, this baby can sear a steak within an inch of its life. Great design and heats up fast.

It also surprisingly gives a great barbecue taste, and with a 1.8 metre cable you can move it with ease. Also has an easy-clean tray.

If outdoor grilling isn’t an easy option, George Foreman takes his grill to the big leagues with his Indoor/Outdoor Grill. With a large, non-stick grill plate, you can cook up to 15 portions at once.

Can be used inside or outside and, like other Foremans, the grease is pulled away. Great value for money but doesn’t get as hot as its bigger electric rivals.

    AND THE REST…

For true baller status you can’t just go to a Sainsbury’s Local. You need to order high-end meats. Todenham Manor Farm won nine Great Taste Awards last year so you can pretty much rest assured they will make you look good. Newly launched is the BBQ King Box, an array of award-winning meat including rare breed rump steaks, free range chicken thighs, pedigree beef and lamb burgers and traditional and merguez sausages, all of which have been bred on the farm in Gloucestershire and reared to the highest animal welfare standards. That, and they’re damn good.

Break out the Jack Daniels Smokey BBQ Sauce for an extra hit of flavour £1.99 from Tesco.com

    THE SMART THERMOMETER

Nothing is more integral to baller status than not killing anyone with your undercooked chicken.

Get an iGrill. Stick it in and track the ‘doneness’ from your smart phone on the Weber iGrill app, without having to lift the lid.

You can customise your iGrill settings so you get an alert on your phone telling you when your steak has gone from rare to medium-rare or when your chicken is perfectly cooked through.

    Works with any BBQ brand.

    THE ATMOSPHERE

No respectable player parties without serious music. Try a Monster Blaster Ravebox. This portable wireless speaker lasts 12 hours on batteries, is water resistant for pools and best of all throws up a light show in time with your tunes. Can be controlled with your smartphone

Listen up Swingers. Get yourself a Swing Seat for chilling.

Made from a brushed ‘straw’ weave built on a welded aluminium frame, it can be left outside all year round.

Fawn coloured cushions come with it.

Whipping out this 32 piece BBQ utensil set turns you into the Bond of the BBQ. It includes cutlery, skewers, tongs and a spatula, as well as a variety of other badass looking items.

The stainless steel cutlery and aluminium carry case is the epitome of cool and it means you don’t have to cart all your indoor kitchen cutlery and kit outside.

    BALLER BOOZE

What to serve your guests – is it a good brand, an excellent year? Fuggedaboudit! All of these I Heart wines are curated, globally selected and fantastic. No guesswork required.

    CRYSTAL HEAD VODKA

Dan Aykroyd’s now-cult Crystal head vodka has a brand new edition this summer – the Aurora, named after the Aurora Borealis and with a beautiful, shimmering bottle inspired by the same. While the original Crystal Head vodka was made with American peaches n cream corn and Newfoundland water, this new addition to the line is made with Yorkshire wheat, as a nod to Dan’s own Yorkshire roots (his family were written about by the Brontes, doncha know).

The vodka has been distilled 5 times through 500million-year-old crystals known as Herkimer diamonds and has a bold, spicy flavour with a smooth character and warm finish.

Oh, and the bottle – every one is unique – will make a serious centrepiece for your bbq table – and a damn good ingredient for your cocktails.

Plus, when the vodka’s all gone you’ve got yourself the coolest new water carafe going.

Find the Crystal Head Aurora vodka at 31dover.com and more about the vodka at crystalheadvodka.com.

    NON-ALCOHOLICS

At least one person there won’t be drinking – but fortunately, non-alcoholic options have come along a bit. Many on the market still contain way too much sugar, so make sure there is plenty of sparkling water with garnishes in the mix – put out sliced cucumber, lemon, lime, raspberries and mint for guests to garnish their own.

    Or try one of these:

Sekforde is a new line of mixers created bespoke for specific spirits (a juniper, raspberry and rose blend for gin, lime with green herbs for rum and a Sicilian orange and bitters mix for Whiskey). While they are designed to unlock the flavours in spirits though, they are just as good served over ice on their own. Unlike so many non-alcoholic options, they are naturally low in sugar – they have under 40 calories per bottle and they are 100% natural. You can buy Sekforde at 31dover.com or find out more at sekfordedrinks.com

Shloer have new flavours including low sugar and pink bubbly. Available at Tesco and Sainsburys.

    Disappointment

This grill had one flaw that prevents me from purchasing. Went to local ace hardware today to purchase, and learned that the tank sits on the ground. So the sale was lost. Since this item would be on a deck in the Northeast, movability is paramount during snow cleanup. I sincerely hope that Weber redesigns the tank area. Total disappointment as this was to be a birthday gift from the family.

This is the first grill I've owned and I am amazed by how easy it is to use. I've already used it four times in the first week (twice in the rain) and have only positive things to say about. Love how evenly it heats the cooking surface and how sensitive the thermometer is to changes in heat.

    Best Grill I've Owned

I have owned 3 propane grills previously including a Charbroil and a newer Ducane, not the older more durable ones. I was concerned about two main features when evaluating grills this go around: evenness of heat on grill surface and durability of the cook box.

None of my prior grills compare to the evenness of the heat on this grill. I was worried about evenness of heat since you cannot really test this at the store. In grilling a dozen times or so I do not find any hot/cold spots on the grill grates. This allows me to maximize my space and grill as much food as I could on my old 3 burner grill where I had to place food in strategic places for hot/cold spot. No more reorganizing food every time I flip it to get even levels of doneness.

As for durability, the Weber is the only brand that I could find in the sub $1,000 price range with a cast aluminum cook box. Trust me, invest in this if you want a grill to last more than 7 years. Each of my previous grills have failed due to rusting out the sheet metal cook box. That is why the cast aluminum cook box is vital to the durability. We all know in 5-7 years you are going to replace the burners and flavor bars etc. if you want to keep the grill operating well. But the cook box is not something you can or want to replace due to cost and size. If the cook box fails, you are buying a whole new grill. As a final thought, at least when a burner or grill grate fails with a Weber you can always find a replacement. Not so much with a Charbroil or most other brands.

    I love my little Weber!

I've just down-sized from a house with a built-in grill - which I never used. Too big, too hard to clean, too inconvenient from the kitchen. This little grill sits right outside my kitchen door, starts right up when I want it, heats quickly and does a super job. My son and I put it together in about an hour and were impressed by how well engineered it was - pieces fit exactly as they were supposed to, all the parts were there and clearly labeled, instructions were clearly written. Everything worked (even the often-glitchy starter), and we've been using it almost nightly for two weeks now. It's just perfect, and I'm so glad I bought it!

I had bought a big grill which rotted out after only 5 years - it was not a Weber - so I decided to go back to a Weber and am extremely happy with this one. I no longer need a huge grill - but it is big enough to cook on for my family of 5 and also great to cook for only me. It heats up fast, easy to start and best part is that I put it together all by myself and then had steaks that night.

    Best grill I've ever owned.

At just one month and a very rainy Spring I haven't had many opportunities to use my new Weber Grill. But so far it's turning out to be the best I've ever owned. Weber grills are not cheap but this product seems to deliver excellent performance and ease of use for the mony. The electronic spark lights instantly and pre-heat is rapid. Temperature recovery when the top is opened or food added is rapid. The built-in thermometer is a plus. Drop-down side tables of both sides will make winter storage easier. The built-in tank scale may be a bit difficult to load but at least provides propane supply information. Overall build quality seems quite good. My grill had been pre-assembled by my Ace Hardware so I am unable to comment easy of assembly. With a little care I think this product will provide years of service and I'm confident repair parts will be available if necessary.

Convert BBQ Grill Gas Type, Natural Gas or Propane With Orifice Plugs.

Convert a gas barbecue grill from natural gas to propane or propane to natural gas with orifice plugs. Generally if we have to convert an orifice fabricated for LP use into an orifice that will burn NG all we need to do is determine the correct size and drill the orifice. This is because LP as a vaporized gas has a much smaller mass than NG and this means the LP orifice will have a much smaller hole than the same BTU’s for NG which needs a much larger hole in the orifice. Using the regulated pressure, BTU’s per burner and an orifice drill bit we simply check the chart to determine the right size and drill the orifice to make the smaller LP opening into a bigger NG opening.

If we are converting a BBQ grill from natural gas to propane we will normally have to remove the NG orifices and replace them with LP orifices because the larger hole cannot be made smaller. Unfortunately a new orifice drilled for LP gas is not always available for every barbecue grill on the planet. Necessity is the mother of invention — if we are converting a barbecue and cannot locate new orifices we have to figure out how to make that larger NG hole into a smaller LP hole.

A Spud orifice has male threads and this one is drilled for NG

This Spud style orifice is from a NG barbecue grill and it is not a brass fitting of a size that we have new orifices that can be drilled to whatever size we want them to be. In order to convert this barbecue to use liquid vaporized propane we need to make the hole in the orifice smaller.

If we are able to buy a replacement orifice that can be drilled to the size we need that should always be the right move. Often finding a replacement orifice is not possible and because the valve and orifice can be fragile we need the size and threading to be exact. Using the original orifice is about as exact as we can get. When a replacement is not available we will ruin and then repair the original orifices to make the larger natural gas hole into a smaller propane hole for our low pressure appliances: barbecues, grills, fireplaces, fire pits, side burner ranges and smokers.

Spud orifice to be drilled for plug.

In order to seal the hole the first step is to get a brass orifice plug and match the cylinder tube of the plug with a drill bit. I use a “21” orifice bit which is Huge and only needs to be reamed back and forth a little bit.

Drill the Huge hole in the orifice. At this point the orifice is totally ruined if we do not plug it correctly because Nothing needs this big of an orifice opening. Drill the orifice taking care of the size based on the plug and being careful not to damage the threaded inner walls of the back of the orifice when working with small spud style orifices like this one in the picture.

spud drilled to match brass plug

Once we have drilled the large hole in the orifice we need to check it with the plug. Sometimes we’ll need a bigger drill bit or only need to ream the drill bit back and forth a little to open the hole. The plug should start into the hole but not go in easily.

Use a hammer to lightly farce the plug into the hole. Be careful not to hit the soft brass so hard we ruin the original orifice. I usually start with slight taps and work up watching the plug. Use a strong solid base; nothing ruins the strike more than a moving table or soft floor that will move when hit.

Match the cylinder of the plug to the hole in the orifice.

We also have to match the back end of the orifice with the large part of the punch. The small tip will be small enough for the back-end of the plug but as it increases in diameter note that larger diameter will be hit into the back of the orifice and will tear the brass threads if it is too bog to fit into the back opening. This punch shown in the image is a part of the kit and there are bigger punches but not smaller ones. When I need a smaller punch I use a small phillips-head screwdriver as a punch and spreader so I do not tear the orifice.

Remember the whole reason we’re going through this process is because replacement orifices are not available and we have to use our original orifices. Check twice so you do not rip the orifice and have to replace an entire valve simple to change the orifice.

plug the hole in the orifice by hand and then with a hammer.

Once we have chosen a good punch we need to get the plug into the large hole we drilled into this spud orifice.

Use a hammer to force it through. If you over-drilled, deal with it by testing at the end and using a plumbers putty when you replace the leaking plug. Optimally we want the plug too tight to be able to be placed by hand. We want it to be forced with a hammer so it is as tight as possible.

plugged orifice seems tight but is not completely filled, yet.

Makes sure to sink the plug into the orifice completely so the head is tight against the head of the orifice. We want the enlarged part of the plug to completely hide the hole we drilled so no gas can escape sideways later.

punch backend to spread the plug in the orifice

Once the plug is tightly inserted from the front of the orifice it feels tight but years of use can change that. The next step is to solidify the plug by using the spreader punch. Insert the punch you chose from the back of the orifice inserting it into the hole of the plug. Smack it with the hammer, hard enough to spread and possibly tear the brass. Place the orifice upside-down so the rounded plug head is on a solid floor. This way when we smack the back side of the plug hard we are not risking dislodging the plug from the orifice. The tubular back-end of the plug that is inside the orifice will be forced to spread and pull the head tighter against the outer front of the orifice.

Orifice plug punch spreads backend to seal the hole

I can only barely tell with the small orifice because it is so tight inside the back end of this spud. The left image is the plug simply pressed into the orifice. The right image is the plug spread to tighten the plug into the orifice tight enough to keep it there forever (or until we have to change it again and remove it by drilling through the plug).

Drill Newly Sealed Orifice For Correct BTU’s and Fuel Type.

Once the plug is forced tight into the orifice the result is a orifice with the threading we require to attach to our barbecue grill control valve but without a much-too-large hole drilled in an orifice designed for use burning natural gas. Now our orifice is sealed and we can drill the orifice with what ever size orifice drill bit we need.

Determining the orifice hole size means knowing the gas type, amount of regulated gas pressure and BTU’s for each burner. For instance LP standard regulators will regulate vaporized liquid propane at 11″. Like any plumbing gas pressure is generally measured in pounds per square inch. Gas fireplaces, barbecues, grills and smokers use a very low-pressure setting well below one pound per square inch so we measure the pressure in terms of water-column displacement. In a manometer the gas pressure is attached to a tube of water and the pressure is only strong enough to push the water so far in the tube. Natural gas has more mass but is usually regulated between 2 inches and 9 inches whereas LP is always regulated at 10-11 inches for low-pressure appliances.

Orifice sizing charts will be in columns of Inches starting with 2 and moving up to 11 inches for LP gas. The rows of the chart will show BTU’s. We find the BTU for the burner and match the proper BTU in the column of regulated gas pressure we’re

Manifold feeds gas to control valve, through gas orifice into burner venturi air shutter and into the BBQ grill burner.

using and that tells us the size of the orifice we will need.

    Best Gas Grills

Hands down the best gas grill on the market when it comes to quality, spaciousness, and results.

A beautiful grill from a reputable company. Three spacious burners, easy-start push button ignition, and cooking capabilities that make grilling a pleasure.

A few reports of faulty fuel gauges and rust have been reported.

Grill with ease at home or on the road. The warranty is excellent should there be issues with the unit.

Compact and portable. A handsome grill that stays plenty hot and is easy to use. The cast-iron grill grates are durable, and the two-burner system also allows for direct or indirect cooking.

Tricky to clean. The painted steel in the lid and bowl is not as durable as desired, nor is the chrome steel of the cook top.

Provides the precise heating technology of infrared, which makes it worth considering.

500 sq. in. of grill space and a warming rack with swing-away capability when not in use. Users love the even cooking of the infrared heat.

Some owners say the construction doesn't have the same durable feel as older models, especially the sheet metal of the cabinet panels.

A decent option that will get the job done, although the unit has some known flaws.

Easy to assemble. Provides good heat and does so quickly. A compact unit that takes up little space and is easy to move.

Does not withstand weather well. Rust is an issue, even when stored away from rain and moisture. Igniter is temperamental and often will not work.

If you are looking for a portable grill, this is a good choice despite a few design flaws.

Offers 305 sq. in. total cooking/warming space encased in solid stainless steel housing that fits nicely on tabletops – a great pick for tailgating and outdoor parties.

Tends to cook hot, requiring close attention to prevent burning food. Sometimes takes several attempts to start, and the starter sticks out awkwardly from the unit.

Shopping Guide for Best Gas Grills

The grill has become an American icon of outdoor cooking. With your handy backyard grill, you can easily add those glorious hash marks to a Porterhouse steak or give your meal that special smoky touch. It’s a portable hearth around which community members can drink lemonade and share stories of the week. This image sends up smoke signals that all is good in the neighborhood.

A true art of Americana, grilling was part of the country’s fabric long before settlers came from abroad. Native Americans grilled their food, and Spanish colonials adopted the technique, from which it took on the name barbeque from “barbacoa.” In the 1950s, the gas grill, a modern convenience, was made popular. It not only brought to market the cart-like styles still prevalent today, but it was the first to use propane as a fuel source.

Gas grills have become increasingly sophisticated in their capabilities, going far beyond merely adding that outdoorsy taste to meat, fish, poultry, or vegetables. Today’s gas grills include rotisseries, smokers, and even side burners to allow the barbecue master to cook beans in a pot while the main course sizzles on the stainless steel grates.

To bake potatoes on a grill, parboil them for 10 minutes and preheat the grill to medium-high. Put the potatoes skin-side down over indirect heat on the rack and cook them for about 15 minutes. Place the potatoes on a serving plate and sprinkle them with olive oil.

    Gas Grill Sizes

What size gas grill is right for you? Many are large, but there are also some smaller gas grills available on today’s market.

    Large Gas Grills

The majority of gas grills are large cooking appliances that weigh more than 100 pounds. These models are semi-portable and have an ignition knob and temperature control knobs in the front. The ignition works on a battery and creates a spark that fires the fuel, thus creating the cooking heat.

Large gas grills often sit on wheels, but they don’t have the freedom of movement that smaller charcoal grills do. They usually have fold-out trays on either side to hold cooking ingredients, condiments, and tools such as a spatula and potholder.

Gas grills should not be used in any type of contained area where fire could result. For example, you should never light your gas grill inside your house, your garage, or on a porch where nearby wood or furnishings could ignite.

    Portable Gas Grills

In recent years, with a spike in camping and tailgating, portable grills have become popular. These models are scaled-down versions of their large-cart cousins with retractable legs and a nozzle attachment geared for smaller tanks of fuel.

These traveling gas grills also have handy trays (albeit smaller than their big brothers) to hold your supplies.

Tabletop Gas Grills with Smoking Capabilities

With the increased fashionability of smoking food, smaller tabletop gas grills that not only cook food but also contain a smoker box are gaining popularity.

The smoker box holds wood chips or pellets that, when burned, add a rich, smoky taste to your meat, poultry, fish, or vegetables.

A large grill can cook up to 28 burgers at one time while a portable model can cook three or four.

    Gas Grill Heat Sources

Gas grills can have anywhere from one burner to five or more sources of heat. Grills with multiple burners are ideal if you’re feeding a large crowd or plan on cooking something like a giant roast or whole hog.

    Propane Gas Grills

In nearly all cases, gas grills get their heat from either propane or natural gas. Propane is a refined byproduct of natural gas which comes in tanks that are attached to a grill through a hose and nozzle.

Always make sure the nozzle is tightly secured to the receptacle on the grill to avoid fuel leakage and harmful emissions.

Use caution when storing propane gas containers. Always keep the propane tanks upright. Never keep your a spare gas containers near the grill.

    Natural Gas Grills

People who live in homes that use natural gas can add a line (generally in the backyard) through which natural gas flows directly to the grill through a control valve.

This connection forgoes the inconvenience of needing to purchase a propane fuel tank, as the supply of fuel is uninterrupted.

Many gas grills have conversion kits in which a unit can quickly be switched from natural gas to propane.

New to the market are gas grills that have an infrared heat source. Along with a small motor, the infrared source powers a rotisserie that can spit-cook meat and poultry.

    Tips for Gas Grill Success

Cooking on your gas grill sounds simple – turn it on, turn up the heat, put your food on the grates, and you are good to go. But it’s not quite that simple.

To get the most out of your gas grill – and draw rave reviews from those who bite into your burgers or happily feast on your medium-rare steak – here are some tips.

    Preheat your grill

Most gas grills work by turning on one burner to start the gas and then hitting the ignition button to create a flame. Once the heater is on, turn on the other burners as needed. Preheat for about 10 minutes or until the grill reaches 500°F, or 350°F for indirect cooking.

To grill a pineapple, put the fruit in a resealable plastic bag and add honey, butter, salt, and seasonings to taste. Shake the bag to coat the pineapple, and marinate it for at least 30 minutes. Preheat your gas grill to high heat and lightly oil the grate. Grill the pineapple for two to three minutes per side.

    Prepare your grill

Once you’ve preheated the grill, use a wire brush to scrape off the leftover goo from previous cooking. Lightly oil the grates to prevent the food from sticking to the surface.

Use an oil with a high smoke point such as canola or peanut oil.

    Cook carefully to preserve flavor

To avoid losing excess juices from your food, turn it over with tongs; using a fork will cause fluids to flow out of your meat. Also, never press down on your food; that too will cause juices (and flavor) to come out of the food. Limit your flipping to once per cooking session; too many flips will result in uneven cooking.

You can turn your gas grill into a pizza oven by buying an oven box. The box sits on top of the grates and uses the high heat to make authentic pizza.

    Consider an indirect grilling method

With larger cuts of meat such as a rib roast, it’s smart to use the indirect method of grilling. You can do this by placing your food over a burner that is either off or on low.

For those who like to peek under the hood, remember that when you lift the lid, you add five to 10 minutes to the overall cooking time.

    Allow your meat to rest

After cooking, allow your food to rest before serving it. Meat, fish, and poultry will continue to cook even after you take it off the grill.

Resting allows the cooking to finish and distribute the flavor evenly.

The vast majority of gas grills have stainless steel grates upon which the food rests while it cooks. There are some models (more common in commercial settings) that use a flat top as a cooking surface. These are more like griddles but provide even heat and the ability to cook a lot of food quickly.

    Cleaning Your Gas Grill

At the end of every outdoor grilling season, when it’s too cold to stand outside in the backyard as the snow falls, you can see the impact of a spring and summer’s worth of cooking on your grill. One way to avoid the need to call for refurbishing help is to keep your grill clean along the way.

Here are some tips on how to clean your gas grill:

Make sure your grill is completely cool and the valve to the propane tank or natural gas line is off. Fill a few buckets with warm water and dish detergent.

Remove and set aside the drip pan and heat shields. Also remove the cooking the grates and soak them in water.

Loosen debris and gunk from the inside of the grill with a clean rag. Tackle any tough, burnt-on material with a wire brush.

After soaking the grates, use a rag to remove any particles that did not come off during the soak. Place the grates aside to dry.

Once everything has dried, put the pieces back together And remember, the more often you clean your gas grill, the longer it will last.

As of October 1995, all grills must include at least three safety features to help prevent gas leaks.

    Gas Grill Prices

Gas grills in this price range are tabletop models that operate on small propane canisters and have one or two burners. These are ideal for infrequent backyard grillers and those who like to cook while camping or tailgating.

Moving up in the price range a bit, you will begin to find larger cart-sized gas grills with one or two burners at most. Portable gas grills in this price range most likely have two burners and are more sophisticated. You can find some small flat-top grills in this price range, too.

Moving up to the premium class of gas grills, you’ll find larger units with three, four, or even five burners. Some have infrared heat that allows you to cook food on a motorized spit and/or side trays to hold tools and ingredients. Larger grills in this price range put off a tremendous amount of heat – up to 32,000 BTUs per hour, which is four times the amount of cheaper and portable models.

Gas grills that hover close to the $500 mark usually have some cool features, such as smoker trays and flavor bars that allow you to soak herbs and add them to the cooking process.

    Q. How far should my gas grill be from the house?

    A. The grill should be placed a minimum of 10 feet from the home. It should be stationed away from deck railing and overhanging branches.

    Q. When lighting a gas grill, should the lid be open or closed?

    A. Be certain your gas grill lid is open before lighting it.

    Q. What do I do if the flame on my gas grill goes out?

    A. When the flame goes out, turn off grill and the fuel source and wait at least five minutes before re-lighting it.

Slow service on a Sunday am

Had to ask for water slow food for breakfast

Pleasant for conversation which is what got 3rd star

We were staying in the Cherry Creek area on a recent visit to Denver. The Weber was a short, pleasant walk from our hotel. We chose it mainly for the quiet ambiance touted in online reviews. That is a primary consideration because of my husband's hearing loss. Unfortunately, the evening we dined at The Weber there was a loud group of six in this tiny restaurant making it quite noisy. We sat next to each other to facilitate conversation, but it was not the cozy experience we hoped for. However, we enjoyed the pasta and seafood dish and the duck entree. The waiter brought us our chosen dessert, a lemon square, with a candle and rousing version of happy birthday. A nice evening.

We enjoyed our breakfast at the Weber in Cherry Creek before attending the Cherry Creek Arts Festival. We sat outside and watched the artists set up their booths while we drank our coffee and had a very tasty crab cake benedict breakfast.

Excellent as always! It is a pleasure to meet friends here for any reason.

The Weber is in a Hotel with a few tables. The food is delicious & the ambiance is low key. Great for having conversation.

We had a lovely family lunch. Food and service was excellent. 3 of us had the chicken pot pie. Sooooo good.

This was our first Sunday experience as we usually go on Saturday mornings and we have been pleased every time.

Stumbled across this fine restaurant in boutique hotel in Cherry Creek. Food was excellent and service very good. Our party had a great meal.

Came in, a first-time, as part of Denver Restaurant Week. Moved to the neighborhood last year and frankly, never heard of this small boutique hotel and restaurant. So in that regard, the promotion brought in new business. The food was certainly good though a bit on the small side for the portions but the regular menu, for dinner as well as breakfast and lunch, looks appealing enough to try when we will be looking for something in the immediate area.

Seated 15 min early. Great. However it was another 20 min before anyone came to our table. Then 10 more for drinks. After 10 more, at only 8:15pm they were out of the only beef option on the pre fix. Sub par for the area, where gastropub "The Thirsty Lion" could beat out this experience with simple bar fare.

The Webber is a low profile Cherry Creek North Restaurant. It is very intimate and quiet. The food was good, with generous portions that weren't overwhelming. If the service had been attentive this place would easily be five stars in every category.

A friend and I were there with two children. Our server was patient, kind, and lovely with the little ones. This is a great space to connect with loved ones over tasty food and meet kind-hearted staff.

Service was excellent -- friendly and accommodating. Prix fixed menu on NY's Eve was very reasonable and the food was great!

    Lovely place for brunch!

The Weber is always good. Had scallops this time - excellent. Service is exemplary.

Horrible parking. Do not use their free parking garages . It has horrible sharp turns and not whole lot of space unless you drive a 2 seater car. The restaurant is in a hotel and has really tight seating space. And it is very outdated decor . Food was ok and service was ok. Not anything I would ever recommend to anyone . ever.

Worst experience ever. Save your dollars and go elsewhere. We had a reservation and stood there for 20 minutes waiting to be greeted as server after server walked right by us. We called the restaurant after we left and made them aware of the nom existent service. Allow your dollars to speak for you and done elsewhere. The service, or lack thereof, is not worth your time.

This restaurant is a hidden gem! We had a fabulous meal, incredible service, great wine, and a wonderful evening. I highly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is intimate and quiet. The food was exquisitely prepared. Our waiter was one of the best we have ever had! It was a fabulous evening!

Great food and ambiance! Good for relazed outdoor dining

I was surprised a place this mediocre could survive in Cherry Creek. The food was made with canned ingredients and the service was slow, although there were only two other parties in the restaurant when I was there.

I really like the outdoor seating. It's very quiet, fairly roomy and just down right cozy.

The food was mediocre at best. The salad seemed pre-made and refrigerated (Kale doesn't usually wilt) and the dressing was all settled at the bottom. I thought it was under dressed until I got to the bottom of the salad bowl. Yuk! My glass of wine cost more than the salad. A little on the pricey side for not so fabulous food and drink. I truly go to the Webber for the ambiance.

I love breakfast at the Weber. I had the Inn's Breakfast and my son had Pete's Frittata. Both excellent. They have a cute patio and great service. Very friendly and quick service. Very comfortable dining on my own there as well as when with others. Food is consistently excellent. Have not had chance to try dinner but definitely will next visit to Denver.

I enjoy dining at The Weber every chance I have. The staff are always friendly and the food always good.

We had brunch at the hotel for Easter once before our recent visit and we thought the set up was great! This was the first time trying the Weber restaurant for fathers day and we were not very impressed. Like the brunch set up better.

Nice restaurant, we went on Sunday so it was very quiet which was perfect for us since we were having our own celebration. The food was excellent, not very large portions but enough. Soup was good as well.

This place is in the middle of Tony Cherry Creek North but misses upscale by a mile,

It feels like a down market diner. Surprising since it is attached to such a lovely boutique hotel as the hotel dining room.

No reason to go back .

Only two people on the patio on a Friday night on a beautiful day.It wouldn't take much finessing to fix this place up.

Overall, pretty good. On the plus side--the food was very good to almost great. Special shout out for the omelette bar, the lox&bagel, the cheese station and the fresh fruit. Needs work--service was slow which is terrible for buffet service. Not sure if they didn't have enough servers or what the problem was. 2nd problem--they didn't clear the used plates quickly enough. And the dining room was not even that big--maybe 12-15 tables at max. For the price, I think the restaurant should have included one free mimosa or bloody mary. The price was mid $30's and there was basically omelettes, roast beef (heat lamp not working), ham slices, lox--nothing extravagant, just the basics. Bacon was drastically undercooked. Fruit was very good and fresh. All staff were pleasant if overworked. This is a restaurant we have gone to several times in Cherry Creek. Love the location and the service and food are reliable. I would come here again for dinner but probably not for mother's day brunch.

Wonderful idea to have special activities for children during Mother's Day Brunch. Watched several Mother's presented with canvases painted by their child. What a special memory and keepsake. Brunch was reasonably priced and good.

Jeff is always so welcoming and helps with any requests! Love the quiet space to dine and enjoy the company of others.

first time ever walking into a restaurant 2 hours after they have opened and there are no patrons. the eggs benedict were good. but their version of french toast left MUCH to be desired. cold, etc.

Very nice meal during restaurant week. The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection. The salmon was excellent. We plan to return.

Crab cakes were disappointing. Not lump crab cakes. Tenderloin was good but ordered med rare and cooked med well. Chocolate dessert not great. We left some and that's not normal.

Too much money for small potions even for restaurant week.

We went to the Weber based on the menu for restaurant week. As it turned out, the food was great. However, we waited for an hour+ after we were seated to be served the first course. Can't figure out what was going on with the waiter. Other tables were served in a reasonable amount of time. It was a baffling experience. It's a small place, so they could have been overwhelmed by greater than usual number of patrons; however, that didn't quite seem to be the case. Would we go back? Probably not; which is a shame, because the food really was a treat.

Our server was great, there was however, another server who felt the need to bump my chair EVERYTIME he passed me. He passed me alot. My chicken was dry. My "Smashed Hash", which appeared to be a baked potatoe, was delicious. The mashed potatoes were delicious. My dining companion loved everything on his plate. The Creme Brule and salted caramel cheesecake were great. Crab cakes tasted like they were from the grocery store. Overall, I give the entire experience a 3 of 5.

Eating at The Weber was totally the best experience of the eight restaurants we visited during Restaurant Week. Highly recommend it.

We decided on the Weber after looking through Restaurant Week menus and deciding theirs looked good. It was nice that we could park for free but the inside of the resturaunt is outdated and they didn't even have a host stand. We had to wait 5 minutes before someone even greeted us and showed us to a table. Service was pretty slow, even though there weren't many customers, our waiter got one of our wine orders wrong, the food was over salted, and the ambiance was definitely lacking. At least we came during restaurant week and didn't have to pay full price.

Chef Eric is talented and highly accommodating, which is great to see in any restaurant. The menus are well thought out, full of flavor and value. While a reservation may not be necessary, I recommend using Open Table or calling ahead to ensure you get the dining experience you desire.

I always love a quiet meal at the Weber. The food is reliably good, the service sweet, but not cloying. Great for intimacy.

The Valentine's Day menu that was advertised did not specify it was available for dinner only so when we arrived for lunch and were informed of this, we did not stay.

127 Weber Grills Consumer Reviews and Complaints

We inherited a Q1000 and used it for many years, grilling almost daily. It was the best! So efficient and durable that we decided we would buy Weber from then on. Time came to invest in a new one of our own, and we found a Q1200 that looked like a new version of the same tabletop style for $199. Well, it lasted about 6 months, until the base MELTED to the grill cavity.

After heating it for 5-10 minutes one day, we noticed it looked lopsided & discovered the cavity had sunk down on one side (due to broken plastic bolts, it appears) and MELTED to the base. We looked it all over -- the ignition still worked, the wires were intact, everything seemed normal except that it was now lopsided and stuck against the melted base! Called customer service, who asked us to send photos, and a week later heard back that their investigator ruled it was damaged by a grease fire. What the what. This grill was sitting on a wooden table, and there were no signs of fire or scorching anywhere. It had only been heating up a few minutes!

From looking at the photos, it was plain as day that the bolts holding the grill cavity to the base had somehow broken, resulting in the cavity falling through on that side, and coming to rest on the plastic base legs, which then melted. No scorching or fire damage anywhere, and it was on the same side as all the wiring, which was fine! However, the customer service person had no access to the photos we sent, and said we had no recourse, since their investigation was final. Outrageous. Never again a Weber.

I have used my GENESIS S-330 GAS GRILL LP since I bought it on May 3rd, 2013. I have used this grill for over 4 years before writing this review. I live in the Phoenix metro area in the middle of the desert. I cook dinner virtually every night in the summer so we do not heat up the house. The rest of the year I probably average three meals a week on one of my grills because the boss (Momma) prefers the taste of grilled foods. I have stood in snow grilling dinner in the dead of winter in Oklahoma. I have catered many, many picnics with smoked foods. Yes, I have a food handling license.

What do I know about Weber grills? Well I have used just about every type they have put out since the early 80s. I currently own three Weber units. The first is the subject of this review, a GENESIS S-330 GAS GRILL LP. The second is a standard 22" charcoal kettle grill. The third a 22" Smoky Mountain Smoker that I use extensively. I have owned multiple other Weber units including LP three burner units over the years. The LP units are what I am going to compare and review now. The charcoal units I will continue to buy as my old ones wear out. The LP have hit my trash them ASAP list!

I do not know the model number of my last three burner LP grill prior to the current GENESIS S-330 GAS GRILL LP. However, its burners were configured from side to side and not like my current grill front to rear. There were absolutely no cold spots with the side to side configuration. With the current forward to rear configuration for the burners, there are a multitude of cold spots! To cook food now, you have to continuously move food around on the grill. Timing different foods for cooking time is impossible. When cooking multiple foods, I find myself estimating times improperly and pulling foods off when they are done and cooking others for a lot longer.

Of course this leads to food becoming cold before the rest is pulled off the grill. There was no reason for me to spend $850 for this grill! I could have done just as well with a Char Broil or other inexpensive grill for $250-$325. My current Weber will not burn off the oils and grease like my old Weber. I have to clean it out 4 times as often as my old grill. How do I know this? Well, my old grill was taken and rebuilt by my son-in-law. He still uses it as often as I use my grills. I still have the two units to compare.

My recommendation? Use the hell out of the Weber charcoal units and forget the gas units. I truly do not believe they are worth the money in any way, shape, or form. If you want to spend that much money, spend a little more and buy a professional unit from a quality grill store. If you look for the best grills on the web, you will find the Weber gas grills are very seldom mentioned. By the way. For reference. I purchased my grill from Lowe's, as stated earlier, 3 May 2013.

Our gas grill is hooked up to our house - natural gas - and we run it 12 months a year. At times I've had to shovel out a path to the grill, but I won't stop barbecuing just because it's winter. Anyway, running year round, our Weber Genesis is still going strong at 10 years old. Have replaced grates and such every now and then, but nothing major.

Weber Grills are most durable and reliable. Cooking grates easier to clean and overall cooking quality is better than other grills I have owned. I will continue to only purchase Weber brand grills.

Our Weber is over 16 years old. We have rehabbed it 2 times now and still going strong. Glad they make replacement parts easy to find now. We use to buy a new one every few years.

Bought my first Weber in the 1980's it lasted 15 years outdoors uncovered. Then I replaced it with a Broil King which totally fell apart after 3 years, back to the Weber and have had it ever since and is still in good shape. I also use the little Weber camping with great success.

We absolutely love our Weber Gas Grill! We have had this grill for several years and it's still going strong! I plan on surprising my husband for father's day and with a new Weber Grill but I'm afraid he'll want to keep both new and old!

I love how the chicken, steaks, and burgers turn out on our charcoal Weber Grill. The meats, steaks in particular, are much more flavorful and tender than when cooked on a stovetop. As with all charcoal grills, maintaining a consistent temperature can be tricky; cooking also takes longer than with gas. For that reason, one must repeatedly make small cuts into the meat to see if it is cooked to one's preference, or in the case of poultry or pork, to check if it is cooked thoroughly. The holes in the grill's lid allows for a wonderful smoked flavor.

Upon picking up my Weber E310 I was informed that I must pick up the 175lb grill and load it. I previously called and asked if help was available and was told no BUT the guys would position the grill so I could slide it into my truck. Only problem it was sitting on a skid and there is no way to slide the grill UP into my truck. The customer service rep said "Tough" you were told. Thankfully another customer helped slide the grill into the truck. This convinced me not to purchased a second grill as I had planned. The next day I purchased another grill for a relative from Home Depot where they happily loaded the grill into my truck. Also Home Depot said if I wanted to wait a week they would assemble the grill and load in my truck.

I have been using Weber Grills for over 30 years. I've had 3 different models over the course of those years. The only reason I have needed a new one was because of natural disasters. I've always found them to be well made and reliable. The temperature is even across the grate surfaces. No hot or cool spots. They heat up quickly. They are a pleasure to use. The company is a breeze to deal if you have a problem with your model. Whether it's in or out of warranty they are extremely helpful with a repair or send a new part. They are definitely built to last. I wouldn't use any other.

We have had our Weber for 18 years. Still great! We clean it after each use and have replaced a few parts to keep it looking like new. If I ever need to replace it, I would not buy any other brand.

We purchased a Weber Platinum C Series Grille approximately 8-10 years ago. The grille looks and performs as good as the day we bought it. We use it more in the summer of course and keep it outside covered with a Weber Grille Cover all winter long.

The Weber Grill is outstanding. Mine is over 15 years old and still looks good and works like new. It is an expensive grill but worth every penny. The temperature gauge still works fine and the grill surfaces are still like new. Cleaning it easy and using oven cleaner makes the job quick and easy.

Bought my first Weber 22.5" charcoal kettle in 1982, still own it and use it regularly. It is in great shape after 35 years of use. My wife gave me a first generation Weber gas grill in the late '80s. It is still at my office, where I use it to grill lunch for my employees. We have a Weber Smoky Mountain Cooker that is in terrific shape and cooks great. The Weber Genesis III gas grill we purchased about 8 years ago is a PIECE OF GARBAGE.

After only 8 years, the cheap sheet metal in the bottom of the grill cabinet has rusted completely through and is falling on the ground. The stainless steel flavorizer bars have burned through and need replacement. The gas valve leaks like a sieve. After only a few years I will be wheeling the Weber Genesis III, which cost over $850, to the curb for the scavengers or garbage men to take away and will never purchase another Weber product again. Weber quality is no longer to be relied upon. STAY AWAY! We could NOT be more disappointed.

Our Weber gas grill is wonderful heavy duty, holds heat and is true to temp. Grills evenly. I love the color. We got it in a dark red crimson color. It is not overly huge just the right mid range size. I would definitely purchase again. We loved it so much we even purchased my mother and father-in-law one!!

I bought this Weber Grills 13 years ago and it's still working fine today. Incredible performer. It was the most expensive at the time but has certainly proven its value.

The Weber Grills is electric. They are hard to find. Easy to use but not as hot or charred for grilling. There is a temperature gauge helpful. It is hard to clean and disassemble to clean it. This one was expensive for a small tabletop grill.

I purchased the Weber Grill for my son. It is now four years old. We've used almost every weekend. Grilled dogs, burgers, brawts, and my favorite is the salmon done on cedar planks. My son is excellent cook on this grill. I would recommend it to anyone for all occasion.

I bought the Weber Spirit. I was excited to own a Weber Grill. Wow. What a disappointment and waste of money. This grill is a piece of garbage. It started rusting within 6 months. The grill sits in my breezeway. It does not get wet except for when I wipe it down with a damp cloth. I use stainless steel cleaner/polish. All of the stainless steel has rust on it. The bottom of the door and side panels have rust on them. I'm not talking about surface rust, it's rusting. I called Weber and they were very, well "not concerned". They say I should use more stainless steel polish. They apparently don't stand behind any type of warranty. Char-Broil Grills are 100% better than Weber. You don't always get what you pay for. Weber is an example of overpriced garbage.

They claim to have a 5 year warranty on the cooking grates and flavor bars. My grill is only 1 & 1/2 years old and both have rusted through. I tried calling to get replaced but after 3 calls and sending pictures I have yet to be successful. My last call she wanted me to describe my grill brush and then wanted to know if I use a "cheap one". What does it matter, I don't think my grill brush caused the grates to rust!! I hung up because I wasn't getting anywhere with the person and will try again for the 4th time. I've decided next time I buy a grill I will buy a throw away and just replace it every 1-2 years. Weber’s are no longer built to last. Very disappointed:(

I placed a prior review pertaining to the Weber Q120 grill, the replacement parts (burner tube, and grill grate), and customer service/warranty issues I was experiencing at the time. That was a couple months ago. Yesterday, after only a few minutes of speaking to a completely different Weber customer service rep., the parts previously in a questionable warranty state, were on their way to me at ABSOLUTELY NO CHARGE.

I couldn't be happier. It seems as though SOME people at Weber Grills may truly care about the consumers who actually do purchase Weber products and from time to time may need help with replacement parts. Once again, they have proven themselves to be a leader among makers of grills and grilling products. They certainly do honor the warranties they advertise. Thanks to a caring company representative I WILL be enjoying my Weber Q120 again this 4th of July. I hope this review helps.

I have extensive experience with Weber Grills dating back about 25 years. My first Weber grill was a Spirit series and it was so long ago that all I can remember about it was that my wife and I loved it. We had absolutely no problems with it and we decided to move on to the Summit series and gave the Spirit to our son who has had it to this day. He still loves it; except for some parts replacements over the years, nothing major, it is still functional and functions well.

We then bought a 6 burner Summit series, what was then pretty much top of the line. We have had it for about 19 years and the only parts we replaced were the flavor bars. It has a rotisserie and a warming rack. It has functioned flawlessly and the taste of the food has been exceptional. We are giving it away to a friend as we have just purchased a Genesis LXII S440 (4 burners since we are an empty nest now and don't need the extra size).

This new grill is one of the most advanced technologically that we could find. The electronic ignition is flawless, it has a 10 year warranty and cooks food to perfection. I should mention that we also bought the iGrill 3 which is a device that allows you to monitor food temperature from an iPhone via a free app, from start to finish and notifies you when the food reaches a perfect temperature (not sure about other smartphone compatibility). What a fantastic invention!

It lists for $99.00 but I think you can get it cheaper, possibly on Amazon but haven't checked. It also has functioned as promised and as described. We tested the food temperature and it was right on the money. I couldn't believe it. This is a highly advanced grill yet you can learn and use all the features in a short time. We have only had it for 2 months but with a 10 year warranty I don't expect any problems. It also seems to use less propane based on the tank gauge.

I will wrap this up by saying that it is no doubt expensive, but if you buy a CharBroil or NexGrill, which are no doubt good grills and very affordable, you may likely need to replace it 3 or 4 times and the Weber will still be going. That is only my opinion, and one's budget is of utmost importance. We are retired and have both been in the workforce for >35 years. We want to splurge a little in retirement. One last caveat: any grill left out in the elements must have a durable cover. We chose the Weber cover (list price $79.95; $67.95 on Amazon where we got it). Protecting the grill or keeping it in a garage or other covered area will extend the life of the grill for a long time.

Bought a brand new Weber Spirit E-210 Gas Grill late last fall. I keep it in the garage so it is not out in a Wisconsin winter. Used it a couple of times last year and then using it heavily this summer. I saw some bad reviews on the knobs stripping and wanted to mention something that happened to me. I have the grill cooking in my driveway. My son goes to back his car out, doesn't look and runs into my grill and knocks it over. I run out to find all the contents (food, grates, flavor bars) on the driveway and the grill laying on it's front with flames coming out the side. We figure out how to stand the grill up without getting burned and I shut it off. Tell my son it could have been worse, could have been my new car.

Once I get everything put back together, turn the knob, hit the lighter and poof goes the flame and everything works. People are talking about the knobs stripping, mine are still perfectly fine. Now my beautiful new grill no longer looks new. Both knobs all scratched up, big hack out of the handle to open the top, the front door won't shut because of a dent in the cross bar under the grill but that baby still cooks great meals. I've loved the grill since the day I bought it. Would highly recommend it.

Just bought a new Weber Grill (Spirit Grill). It cost twice as much as other grills but the salesman convinced me it's worth it. So far, I'm not happy. The middle gas control knob is not properly aligned. Every time I use the grill I have to take the knob off and put it on again. I want to keep it clean so I tried turning it on high to let the debris burn off. It simply does not get hot enough to produce ash. Pulling the drawer out for cleaning is difficult. I could have 2 Charbroil grills for the price of one Weber.

I needed new burners the flame wasn't even. I grill almost every day. They did send new ones, but can't remove bolts, screw. Talked to two reps and they wanted me to disassemble the whole front of grill knobs, starter, face plate, baffle, manifold, etc. Why I asked the instructions that came with the new burners says remove bolts and slide new burners in and install new bolts, I can't. They are corroded and rusted, of Course they're in the inside of the grill. Had to talk to THE manager. She said the owners book says to yearly cleaning to remove those screws and etc. to clean, I didn't and that my problem. I said "Who does that? It's a bad design." She says that's my problem. I cleaned more than yearly, but remove bolts really. Who does that. No one is my vote. Bad design, maybe stainless steel Weber. would be better, extra screw with grill upon purchase something. do this is a really hard fix.

I purchased my 3 burner Weber Spirit 3 years ago. It worked ok when it was new. Temp would max out around 500. But over the past year and a half, it would take longer and longer to reach searing temp. More often than not I would find myself in bypass mode. Yes, I follow Weber's ridiculous standard operating procedures on how to light this thing properly. When I get lucky, the grill would heat up to 425 after a full 20- 30 minutes on pre-heat. Anyone who knows anything about grilling knows that you can't sear meats at 425. That 425 number is deceiving though. That represents the pillow of hot air that is immediately lost as soon as you open the cover to lay your food. Food that is cold and acts as a heat sink for whatever heat is trapped within the iron grates. Close the lid and the temp needle plunges to 325 and then slowly rises again and stalls at 390.

Getting back up to 425 takes another 5 minutes assuming you don't dare open the lid to check on progress or flip your food. I've had several conversations with Weber about this. Replaced propane tanks, replaced the regulator, disassembled the connection line to the manifold, wire brushed the burner tubes and flame transfer rod in the back all to no avail. For the cost of this grill, I could not be more dissatisfied. I thought I was buying hassle-free quality. Can't tell you how many grass fed steaks have been absolutely ruined on this over priced steam table. So unhappy with Weber. My advice is save your money. Buy a cheaper grill that will rot out every 4-5 years and then replace it. I never had a problem with my Charbroil (except for the rotting out problem). But for the price, I could have bought 3 of them and gone 15 years of hassle-free grilling.

I purchased a Weber Q320 grill a few years ago thinking I was buying a quality product, but to my dismay I found that I was wrong. The porcelain cooking grates rust in less than a year. I am looking to replace the second set already and trying to come up with a stainless steel alternative. I purchased the Q320 solely on the Weber name and not wanting to buy a low quality grill that you get in the big box stores. Considering a replacement set of grates cost $80 plus shipping, I would have been much better off buying a cheap one at the big box store and replacing it every 3 or 4 years. Consider this carefully before making your decision on buying one of these!

I was mislead into buying a high priced Weber BBQ under the assumption it would last for years. But don't move and find out your BBQ no longer accepts the new gas. I have a NG BBQ with no NG lines to be seen. After some BS about how complicated a conversion would be I am now stuck with useless planter. Unless you intend to stay where you are for some time don't buy a Weber. Buy one that can be converted.

I purchased a Weber Genesis grill $800 and 2 years later it has started to rust. I contacted Weber and they saw that it is only 2 years old. I asked for a replacement grill and this was denied. I then found out that they are now manufacturing the grill in China. They were manufactured in the USA years ago and no longer take pride in the Weber brand! I sent many photos but they are no longer interested in keeping their customers happy. Buyers beware.

The Weber Q120 may be a small, even portable to a degree, grill but it has been a pleasure to own and use for several years (Almost 7 yrs now). However, the burner tube and grill grate have had to be replaced two times. Which brings me to the warranty issues. The burner tube and grill grate both have a no rust through/no burn through warranty of 5 years (Per the Weber warranty website).

So with Memorial Day right around the corner and the probs with the grill, burner tube being rusted through and the grill grate top being rusted and damaged due to the burner tube prob, I decided to call Weber for some replacement parts. And after spending a few minutes with a customer service rep I was able to order the parts I needed and it was only going to cost me a little over a hundred bucks. So I ordered them and paid for them, and had even agreed to pay a little more for a fast delivery.

But after the call I started looking into the warranty info. Just became curious because this was the second time I've had to replace the same parts since buying the grill, and with the combined costs of the first and second replacement parts I could have almost just paid for a brand new grill. So anyway, I looked into the warranty info and found both the parts had a 5 YEAR no rust through / no burn through warranty. I called Weber customer service and after about an hour of bouncing around to a couple different people and explaining my situation (That I had just ordered the second set of the same replacement parts and paid for them and was now waiting for them to arrive).

The only real prob I had now was after having to order the parts again that I had just happened to check the Weber website warranty info out. Where it CLEARLY stated the parts I had just reordered for the second time in less than 5 years, happened to have a 5 yr warranty and I was not too happy about that news.

After explaining everything the customer service rep, I finally ended up speaking to a customer service "manager". She was extremely polite. She advised me the best way to handle this was to possibly just let her check into it further, and while she did they would refund the amount I had just paid for the second set of replacement parts. That sounded fair so I did and I actually received a phone call the NEXT day which I missed and had to return, but hey no prob so far. That was until I called and asked to speak to the extremely polite lady I had spoken to the day before. It just so happened that she, Dana I believe, was not available.

So I tried explaining the situation to the rep, she was completely sarcastic, even arguing with me about the EXACT warranty info to the point I was very frustrated and unwilling to even discuss it further. I think the straw that did it for me was after already ordering the parts and paying for them, then finding out via website info warranty specs, and having to go around and around and another round with what was finally a rude and dismissive customer service rep that told me she was quote, "Sooo sorry," that she needed me to explain it all over for her again. REALLY. "No mam, it's truly me that is sooo sorry," as she put it for having to deal with someone like her.

Even though the grill has worked great, except for the mentioned items going bad too fast. As much as I have enjoyed cooking with it for the past several years, I REFUSE to support or to have ANY dealings with ANY company rep. who actually believes they can get away with disregarding their own products' warranty then so smugly dismiss my frustration and complaint. Needless to say, I will not be grilling with my Weber Q120 this Memorial Day or possibly ever again. I will definitely not pay for any more parts that were under warranty, looks like I will grill shop this holiday. Hope this was able to help someone.
