Guide Review - Weber Genesis S-320

Weber builds grills that are among the most recommended in the world.

Their wide availability makes them very popular as does their consistently high quality of manufacturing. This Weber grill is an attractive unit of stainless steel and painted black. The lid is a heavy dual layer stainless steel piece with a cast aluminum fire box. The frame is welded steel and very strong.

Welded steel is much better than the riveted or bolt frames on many lower quality grills.

Apart from the looks, the Weber burner system provides good heat distribution that eliminates hot and cold spots. The three burner configuration gives you the ability to grill indirectly or to have a hot sear zone while having a cooler grilling area. Control on this grill is very good because of its highly adjustable valves.

The Genesis S-320 offers 42,000 BTUs from its three burners under a primary cooking area of 507 square inches. While this is a little low for a grill of this size the efficient design generates more heat with less fuel than many other grills. This unit should reach maximum temperature in less than 10 minutes and can easily sear. This unit also comes with a 12,000 BTU side burner.

The biggest gripe with this grill is the almost complete lack of work space. With the control valves consuming most of the right side table this leaves you with only the left side to work with. There's just enough space to put down a normal sized plate and nothing else. Flip up tables (like older models) would certainly be nice.

While you pay for the Weber name, they are the only company that will give you 24/7 support 364 days a year.

They also have a great reputation for service. This grill is also available in natural gas.

Guide Review - Weber Genesis E-320 - Discontinued

For 2011 Weber has redesigned their popular line of Genesis grills. The burners, which used to run parallel to the front of the grill, with controls on the right side table, are now run perpendicular to the front of the grill with the controls in the front. Now, after 25 years, the Weber Genesis grill is much more like all the other grills on the market, at least as far as the burner design goes.

Being Weber, this wasn't a rash decision and after three years of development, the new Genesis grill is a more efficient grill. I won't go into all the details here, but what I can say is that this grill really hasn't changed the way the grill cooks.

Of course, if you are reading this you are not interested in what the Genesis used to be, but what it is now. Put simply this grill is one of the most efficient standard gas grills on the market as well as one of the best built. For the price there really isn't a better grill on the market, and while this is a basic, no frills gas grill it does what you want, it grills hot and fast, while giving you the ability to do low, indirect grilling.

To really understand the Genesis grill you need to look inside the firebox. The three burners put out only 38,000 BTUs under 507 square inches of cooking space or about 75 BTUs per square inch. While this is low when compared to other gas grills, the efficient design holds in heat. The problem is, while this grill can hold in heat, without the extra power it takes lover to heat up. So, you will be able to do some serious grilling it will take you longer to get there. Plan on some extra preheat times.

What really makes the Weber Genesis E-320 stand out is its quality. The attention to detail that takes 3 years to change the burner design can be seen in every part of this grill. This means that everything on this grill works (they actually fire up every grill before it is packaged), and since there is a 10 year warranty on virtually everything in this grill you can rely on it to last for at least a decade and I would believe longer.

This model includes a 12,000 BTU side burner under a flush mounted cover on the right side table.

The “pros” of the Weber Genesis E320 have been detailed, so perhaps we should list the “cons”. Actually, there are very few. And those are purely a matter of opinion.

“CONS” OF THE WEBER GENESIS E320
- Indeed there are less costly grills on the market, so price could be considered an issue. BUT, FOR THE COST, YOU WONT FIND A BETTER GRILL ON THE MARKET TODAY. So, consider your priorities and you will probably find that cost is not a “con” at all.
- Somewhat limited cooking space. There are grills with more space, but they do not have the other positive features of this unit. Again, consider your priorities overall and cooking space may not be an issue either.
- Size and weight make it not as portable as other grills, but it is movable.
- Not much side room for plates. That is easily taken care of by placing a table nearby.
You can also add to the stylish appearance and convenient use of this grill by taking advantage of the accessories available for the unit.
- A cover made especially for this grill. This is really nice.
- A special rotisserie. Imagining the aroma of the meat cooking makes my mouth water right now.
- Cast iron griddle. Very handy, indeed.
- Vegetable basket. Great addition for perfectly cooked veggies!
- Gas grill smoker. Smoked steaks, fish, or chicken…let’s make some for tonight!
- Saucing system. Yup! Let’s have some of this tonight, too…
All in all, we have done a lot of grilling over the years with various types and makes of grills and we really believe that the WEBER GENESIS E320 GRILL is the best buy for the money currently on the market.

What an incredible grille, highly recommended.

After going thru (2) of the nice looking (but poorly designed) Charbroil "Infared" grilles, I finally broke down, paid out my money, and bought the Range Rover of grilles. If only I Had done so sooner! I bought this at Ace over Memorial Day Weekend, 2015. I got the 3-burner, S.S., Spirit with side burner. This was a giant step-up from a 2-burner stainless Charbroil brand with NO side burner. My neighbor and one of my co-workers have stainless Weber Genesis models, so I admit to suffering from envy. However, seeing as how they are older than me and their grilles have lasted 10+ years, I deferred to their wisdom. This thing is fantastic! From the sold gas connections to the beefier wiring, to the very stainless steel grates themselves, this thing is a freakin' TANK. This thing literally cooks food in 1/3 the time as the frustratingly inefficient Charbroil Infared series, which is also a gigantic pain-in-the-rear to clean. This Weber is fantastic to clean, as not only does it have a drip tray, but the entire bottom part of the grilling area slides out as a tray!! So really all you have to do is place aluminum foil on that part, and then remove and replace it each month!! Wow. The stainless grates (2) remove and can easily be placed in a dishwasher. The controls knobs are solid (no wobble), and it fires right up, and heats up - FAST. The propane tank level indicator is genius and simple. I had my Charbroil brand for 5 hard years, and every year I was replacing expensive parts. Screw that. For what I paid in parts on the Charbroil junk I could have gotten this Weber 5 years ago. I'm literally kicking myself. As I said, I bought this at an ACE and I got instant $50 credit when I opened an ACE credit card account, then also $50 instant gift card, AND 0% interest for 9 months! So I saved $100.00 right off the bat, which I used for the Weber custom cover, which has it's own 3 year warranty. There's no going back, I'm Weber all the way now. Outdoor cooking has become a pleasure, instead of a messy hassle.

A shinning armor in my backyard

This is my mother gift for my wife. Initially looking for the black version of this product but went to SS all the way. It took me about 2.5 hours to assemble but in fact you can do it in an hour with a little help. Be careful not to over tighten those gray screws so you don't end up breaking some like others. It says made it China but the quality looks good. I heard Genesis or summit are made in USA but not the spirit models. I did not do fuel leak test and it seems to be fine. Overall my wife likes it and that's the bottom line.

SPIDER /INSECT SCREENS ® ® our Weber gas barbecue, as well as any outdoor gas appliance, is a target for spiders and other insects. They can nest in the venturi section (1) of the burner tubes. This blocks the normal gas ﬂ ow, and can cause the gas to ﬂ ow back out of the combustion air opening.
