      flare-ups gone/ best searing

Posted by Unknown on Oct 20th 2017

got for Weber Genesis, flare-ups are gone and it is great for searing. Way better than the weber

Wish the pieces were welded together

Posted by Glenn Dunlap on Sep 26th 2017

I used the channels up for most foods, but for steaks getting the whole side browned to add flavor is much more important than grill lines. The professional steak house I go browns well both sides.

I wish the 5 pieces were welded together so I could easily flip the thing over. Very nasty using my fingers to flip it over. The pieces all fall apart and have to be put together again. A messy job when they are not new! I went to my local welder and he soldered the pieces together. Works great now! Great for cooking bacon now because you don't burn everything with flare ups.

      Great Sear

Posted by Daytripper on Sep 22nd 2017

These work great to finish my Sous Vide cooks, on the Genesis. Don't have to fire up the Big Green egg anymore, to get the high heat, and it leaves some pretty cool grill marks.

      Great cooking surface

Posted by Jerry on Aug 3rd 2017

Great for the cooking. No blame-ups, quicker cooking, beautiful grill marks. It is just about the cleaning. The troughs where two plates connect (no bottom holes) get filled with greasy debris and there is no where for it to go. The plates fit so snugly at front and back it can't fall through. I've used paper towels to pull it out, but not much fun. Maybe I should have just bought a couple plates and put on top of old grids instead of replacing.

Grill Grates Live Up to Their Reviews

Posted by Warren on Jul 4th 2017

Purchased grill grates to replace decaying original grates in my Weber Genesis. Chose these after checking both video and written reviews. Being a bit of a techy type I liked the concept of the aluminum material and design. I have used them several times including some rib-eye steaks to season them as instructed. They are living up to the positive reviews.

      everything is better

Posted by Richard Weidner on May 31st 2017

I can't believe a product like these Grill Grates have changed my grilling experience. I have grilled chicken, hamburgers and rib eye steaks with amazing results! (great flavor and juicy.) What really blew my mind was grilling thick sliced bacon without a single flare up! I got the grate set for my Weber Genesis E and I did the spatchcocked chicken. I could not believe I did not have to babysit my grill, while cooking. The skin on the chicken was golden brown with the great sear marks. If you have a Genesis grill, do yourself a favor and replace your cast iron grates with the Grill Grate replacement set.

Now I can even grill Bacon!

Posted by Jay on Apr 10th 2017

I bought the 5 piece set for my Weber genesis and also bought the griddle. I made bacon and eggs on the griddle with no problems the bacon grease filled up my grease pan but there was never a flare up or fire at all. This past weekend I made ribs by putting a slab of hickory under the griddle to keep it smoldering but not catch fire. Ribs were placed on the warming rack and cooked low and slow. Came out great. The seat is also amazing.

In my original order, they forgot to include the grill grates brush. So I emailed them and they responded within two hours and overnighted the brush to me. Great company, great customer service, and lastly Great Grates!

      HUGE Improvement

Posted by Unknown on Mar 31st 2017

Grill Grates are a very big improvement over my original cast iron grates. They allow me to use less gas (cook with the gas setting on lo-medium even for searing), Grill Grates also have COMPLETELY eliminated flare ups including while cooking fatty meats like hamburger and fresh sausage. It also allows us to use a smoker box under the grates still for great smoke flavors.

      Grill Grates are awesome

Posted by Todd Vuglar on Sep 14th 2016

After 12 years my Jenn Aire grill rusted out. I bought grille grates for it 5 years ago and love them. Bought a Weber Genesis and my old grates fit it perfectly . So I have a new set of stainless steel grates in a box and thats were they will stay. Thanks again Brad for a terrific product.

      Weber Genesis II E-310

The smarts on this powerful Weber grill are worth it

The Good The Weber Genesis II is built to last, easy to clean and packs powerful burners. Its smart capabilities and app provide useful grilling help.

The Bad It takes practice to use this grill to its best. It's expensive and its connected features cost extra.

The Bottom Line Seasoned BBQ pros will like the Weber Genesis II’s sturdy construction and thoughtful design, but casual cooks should buy a basic grill instead.

      Full Review

Weber's reputation for building durable, practical outdoor grills goes back decades. Now the company wants you to think smart, too, when you think Weber. To that end, the $850 Weber Genesis II E-310 has lots of what you expect from a Weber BBQ, plus a side of app connectivity.

To enable the smarts on this already expensive propane cooker you'll need to shell out an extra $100 for Weber's iGrill 3 accessory. It's actually a fairly useful add-on, but it's not included in the core product. Due to three powerful burners and sensitive heat controls, mastering your grilling technique on this hot-rod cooker also takes practice.

All this makes the Genesis II suited to more experienced grill enthusiasts with the patience to master this high-end unit. If smarts in a more forgiving high-end grill is what you want, the $800 Char-Broil SmartChef Tru-Infrared is slightly cheaper and easier to use.

Weber Spirit vs Genesis: The Ultimate Comparison

So, you’re looking for a top quality gas grill and have a hard time deciding between the Weber Spirit and the Weber Genesis ranges. It’s not an easy choice, but by isolating a few key requirements you can make the correct decision.

In this article you will find brief highlights of both ranges, key differences and a comparison table to help you find the right model for you.

      Weber Spirit versus Genesis: Quality

Both these ranges offer outstanding build quality. However, the Spirit features a lower grade of stainless steel than the Genesis. They’re still high quality, well-constructed grills, but rest assured that the extra money you pay on the Genesis grills are not just for more space and heat. They’re a few steps up from the Spirit in construction quality.

Apart from the Genesis S-models (more info below) all these products feature stainless steel burners, porcelain-enamel cast iron grates and enclosed gas storage with gas gauges and thermometers.

      The Genesis and Spirit Models

We have a handy comparison table a little lower down that will help you compare exact features at a glance. For now, just a quick overview of the different models on offer.

      Genesis: E-310 (full review), E-330, S-310, S-330

Both ranges offer basic models and more featured models.

In the Spirit range, the basic model is the E-210 (2 burners, 450 sq. inch), which offers the bare essentials you need to get grilling, including a handy extra in the LP fuel gauge. The E-220 model adds a 12,000 BTU side burner to the E-210 setup.

Next, you step up to the Spirit E-310. This is a 3-burner 529 sq. inch model that offers slightly more cooking space than the E-210. Apart from that and the extra burner, they’re virtually identical. The E-320 upgrades the E-310 with a 12,000 BTU side burner.

The Genesis range starts with the E-310, a 637 square inch cooking surface powered by 3 burners and all the essential features you need, without added extras. For extras, you can upgrade to the Genesis E-330 (reviewed here), which adds both a side burner and a sear station to the E-310.

      The S-Models

Available in both the Spirit and Genesis ranges are the S-models: the Spirit S-210 and the Genesis S-310 and S-330. They are exactly the same as their E-model counterparts, apart from the following:

      – stainless steel cooking grates and flavorizer bars instead of porcelain-enamel coated cast iron (Genesis only)

      – stainless steel shroud instead of porcelain enamel shroud (Genesis and Spirit)

      So, Weber Spirit or Genesis?

Ok, we’ve looked at the basic differences between the models. We’ve established that the Genesis range offers better quality stainless steel construction, but you pay considerably extra for that.

So, with the Spirit still being a well-constructed unit, it comes down to your requirements in the end. How much cooking space you need, what extras you need and what your budget can handle.

Personally we feel a Genesis is worth it from a long term investment perspective. These grills are built to last, and a model like the Genesis E-330 will give you everything you’ll ever need from a gas grill in this price range. Spending a bit more from the start has its advantages in the long term.

However, the choice is yours. The one thing we can recommend is that you get a model with a side burner. You don’t want to save fifty bucks now by skipping it, only to realize a few months down the road that it would have been nice to have. Buy once and buy right.

To help you compare features, you’ll find a comparison table below.

      Comparison Table

To simplify things we left out the 210 and 310 Spirit models, for two reasons:

1 – the only difference is the side burner that you get with the 220/320 models

2 – the price differences are so small that you may as well get the 220/320 and be done with it

This table highlights and compares all the major features of the most popular models in the Weber Spirit vs Genesis range.

Guide Review - Weber Genesis II LX S-340 Gas Grill

In the past, if you wanted a Weber Genesis Gas Grill, your choices included colors, whether or not to have a side burner, and a few minor cosmetic elements, like stainless steel hood and doors. Now, this ever popular grill can be had in a number of sizes, ranging from a small two-burner unit to the monster six-burner.

The LX series of Genesis grills takes the line to a new high-end position. Where the standard Genesis II is made in China, the LX series is made in the United States in the same factor that once made all of the Genesis and Summit series gas grills.

But it isn't just the variety in the number of burners (there are also two, four and six burner versions of this model). The entire cooking system has been redesigned, most notably, the burners with what they call the GS4 cooking system. In the past, the burners on a Weber gas grill were the typical stainless steel tubular burners. The new burners are rectangular, top ported and tapered. What this means is that the fire shots directly up into the "flavorizer" bars and are tapered to provide an even heat front to back. Simply put, the pressure inside the burner is the same all they way through, so the flames have the exact same pressure through every port. This gives the Genesis, one of the most even heats of any gas grill on the market.

The other innovation with the model is the new ignition system. Turn the control knobs and the igniters continuously keep the burners lit. These igniters sit under a protective cuff that Weber is confident will allow them to last for ten years.

They even warranty the ignition system for that long, giving this grill the longest and most complete warranty in the industry. Weber's legendary support remains unchanged and with this warranty, the rest of the business is going to have to catch up on reliability.

The Genesis II LX S-340 is a full feature grill. It has three main burners, a good quality side burner and a long list of bells and whistles. These include a tank scale, illuminated control panel and complete compatibility with Weber's iGrill 3 technology. With this added feature, you can monitor the grills cooking temperature as well as multiple food items. It will also monitor fuel levels and remotely control the lights in the control panel. For a list price of $1,499USD (typically selling for $1,299USD) this is a large, but simple gas grill.

The price of this grill is relatively high, but the construction quality is excellent and it more than delivers on all of its promises.

The one odd, even humorous feature of this gas grill is that the burners have a "High Plus" setting, meaning that you can literally turn the heat to 11. "Spinal Tap" fans will get the argument that maybe high should have just been hotter and that there isn't a point in a "High Plus" setting.
