prior to Grill Grates I was having a problem with decent searing and sticking. No more. Meat is now nicely searing and with no sticking. An excellent product.

I made the mistake of not reading all of the specs on this product. i thought I was ordering replacement grill grates. I have grates that I ordered to fit on my Weber 1000 already. The problem with them is it requires you to clean both the cast iron grate that comes with the Weber and the grill grates.

Weber Q1000 Grill Review

Weber are well known for making grills that stand out from the crowd. Innovative and creative by design, ergonomic and effective in use, there are a few models in their range that have people talking. The Weber Q1000 Grill is one of those very grills.

It’s a stylish and modern looking grill, yet somewhat simplistic and easy to use. The beauty of this grill lies in the user experience, from pressing the red auto-ignite power button, to watching your food cook on the porcelain enameled cast iron cooking grate.

The 189” sq cooking area is adequate to host up to 6 people simultaneously, 6 large steaks can fit on easily with some space for sides too. The Q1000 Liquid Propane Grill doubles up as a feature on patios or decking, and makes for a great companion at tailgate parties or outdoor cookouts.

Enough about the design and user experience, let’s take a closer look at how the Weber Q 1000 stacks up against other grills in its field, and what kind of value it offers.

Setup and Design Features
The overall construction is very good, with the lid being made from durable cast-aluminum and having a sturdy handle to open and close. The frame is a glass reinforced nylon construction, and there is a red push button on the front to ignite the burner.

While not only looking sleek in black and silver, the construction is designed to be rust and corrosion resistant. There are ergonomic control knobs to control the flame, so holding a gentle simmer on liquid, or turning up the heat on a large piece of meat is easily achieved.

The burner on the Q1000 delivers 8500 BTU’s, so it is more than capable of grilling some large steaks, or a few burgers. But the power output is a little lower than other top rated barbecues like the Coleman Road Trip Grill. Expect to be a little more patient with the Weber, but the extra economy is a plus. Take a look at Weber’s website for additional models if looking for a little more power.

The Q1000 is deceptively light at only 27.5lbs, making it easy to take with you on outdoors trips. It has a number of unique and interesting features, and serves food for 4-6 people at a time. Excellent grill for size/price!!

First-off, this is a Weber. As-such, this small grill is high quality, reliable, and long-lasting. We've had ours for 12 years now and it still work great. Sears well, heats quickly. Heat distribution is not as even as 2/3 burner grills, but that's to be expected - it's designed for smaller grilling amounts and portability. We've been extremely happy with every aspect of this grill. Only changed cooking grate once in 12 years, and igniter once. It's kept outdoors on cart w/ Weber grill cover.

LOVE it , worked great for many years !

I loved this BBQ , but it's now time to up-grade (up one size to Q2200). My only complaint is that it was not hot enough to really sear a thick steak , you could put the lid down and heat it way up and sear one side of a steak but the grill would cool off and not sear the other side to my liking . I mostly cooked/grilled with the lid up depending on what I was cooking , with the lid down it's more like baking something. I will most likely increase the jet/orifice on the Q2200 after a few test runs [not recommended]. Not sure about the 'other' review on the site but this BBQ will get very hot with the lid down and could 'burn' anything if left unattended long enough .

Love the size and the portability, but even on the lowest setting, it just gets too hot and you cannot adjust the rack or the burners. It burns things so bad it makes it difficult to clean up. Weber is usually an awesome product, but this one just falls short for us.

Weber Q1000 vs Q1200 Comparison

Today we’re going to compare the Weber Q1000 vs Weber Q1200.

The Weber Q-line of grills remain some of the most popular gas grills around. They are portable, top quality and sensibly designed. The two entry level models, the Q1000 and the Q1200, have a few key differences that you need to be aware of. These will definitely influence your buying decision.

Let’s compare the two grills and see what we have.

Weber Q1000 vs Q1200: The Major Differences

The chart above makes it very clear that there are 3 feature differences, and 1 purely aesthetic difference. Under the hood though, the’re essentially the same grill, both featuring Weber’s new split grill system that allows you to have one half grill, one half griddle, etc.

1. Folding Side Tables

A little extra space is always handy, and these side tables on the Q1200 does add value. They don’t have the tool hooks of the previous incarnation of this grill (the Q120), but they still make as much sense as ever. Since they can fold away, you don’t need to worry about them making the grill more cumbersome or less portable (apart from adding a little weight).

Knowing your own grilling habits and what you like to have around you while grilling will help you decide how important a feature this is. For me, I really like it and use them all the time.

2. Ignition System

The Weber Q1000 features they very simple, but effective, push button ignition system. This means you press a button and get a spark. You want another spark, you press the button again. Simple, no batteries required, many people will feel this is perfectly adequate.

The Q1200 has an electronic ignition system, which provides a continuous spark and requires a battery to function. Very nice to have as well. You may prefer one or the other, and frankly, both get the job done.

3. Thermometer

Yeah I know, lid-mounted thermometers, don’t trust them further than you can throw your grill with your weak hand.

Still, I like to have an indication of what’s going on inside the grill and the thermometer on the lid is convenient and valuable as far as I am concerned. I’d rather have it than go without, so extra points to the Weber Q1200 for having one.

4. Multiple Colors

Weber has gone funky with the Q1200 and made it available in a multitude of colors. If you’re happy with the standard titanium look, this is a non-issue. If, however, you want your grill to stand out from the crowd, the Q1200 has got you covered with at least 7 additional color options.

So, Which Do I Get?

The standard price difference between these two grills is about $30. The Q1200 sells for around $200 and the Q1000 around $170, depending on where you shop and so on. That’s not a huge difference at all.

However, if you think side tables are just for show-offs, push button ignition is the way to go and you need a thermometer like a fish needs a bicycle, the Q1000 offers you all the good stuff under the hood that its more spruced-up sibling does. See the current deal on Amazon.
