SPIDER /INSECT SCREENS ® ® our Weber gas barbecue, as well as any outdoor gas appliance, is a target for spiders and other insects. They can nest in the venturi section (1) of the burner tubes. This blocks the normal gas ﬂ ow, and can cause the gas to ﬂ ow back out of the combustion air opening.

Weber Genesis gas grills are among the most popular grills in the world. The Genesis II series offers well-built gas grills at an affordable price point. I love that these grills are available in several colors to fit anyone's taste, and are available in 2,3,4, or 6 burners models. The grill features an open cart design with bottom shelf that makes access to storage easy. The Genesis II also saves you valuable storage space with its propane tank storage area, located under the right side shelf, which allows you to connect and mount your propane tank underneath the side shelf. The tank mount features a handy gauge which allows you to monitor your fuel level.

The tried and true Weber Cooking System is great at providing even heat distribution and minimizing flare ups. The Genesis II features porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grids that have notches cut out towards the front, allowing you to easily see whether each burner is lit. The grill also has a tuck-away warming rack, providing you with an additional 198-inches of cooking space when you need it. Under the grids lies the triangular-shaped Flavorizer Bars that sit directly above the burners. These shield the burners by catching drippings and turning them into smoke, adding flavor back into your food. Weber pioneered the Flavorizer Bar in 1984, and since then they've proven to do their job extremely well, which is why they're still preventing flare-ups on all Weber gas grills today!

The Genesis II is powered by stainless steel burners that get narrower towards the back of the grill. Since most grills get hotter towards the back side of the grill, this reduces that heat, producing a more consistent heat across the cooking surface. The burners are lit by a reliable push button electronic ignition and produce around 12,000 BTUs per burner.

With over 50 years in business, Weber customer service is as good as it gets. They have a 10 year warranty on the grill body and on the burners. They have reputable service and quickly handle any service or replacement part situations.

The Weber Genesis II does not score well for high heat due to a low maximum BTU output, when compared to other grills in the same class. Additionally, the porcelain-coated grates and Flavorizer Bars are not as durable compared to stainless components found on other grills, like the Genesis II Special Edition or the Genesis II LX.

Weber's reputation for building durable, practical outdoor grills goes back decades. Now the company wants you to think smart, too, when you think Weber. To that end, the $850 Weber Genesis II E-310 has lots of what you expect from a Weber BBQ, plus a side of app connectivity.

To enable the smarts on this already expensive propane cooker you'll need to shell out an extra $100 for Weber's iGrill 3 accessory. It's actually a fairly useful add-on, but it's not included in the core product. Due to three powerful burners and sensitive heat controls, mastering your grilling technique on this hot-rod cooker also takes practice.

All this makes the Genesis II suited to more experienced grill enthusiasts with the patience to master this high-end unit. If smarts in a more forgiving high-end grill is what you want, the $800 Char-Broil SmartChef Tru-Infrared is slightly cheaper and easier to use.

Simply put the Weber Genesis line of grills are the best you can buy in this price range and beyond. The E-310 is the most basic version of this series. What you get with this model is a three-burner grill (available in three colors) and that's about it. Other models in this series give you a side burner or a sear burner, but if you don't need that then this is the model to buy.

Guide Review - Weber Genesis E-310 Gas Grill

After Weber redesigned their popular line of Genesis grills, the burners, which used to run parallel to the front of the grill, with controls on the right side table, are now run perpendicular to the front of the grill with the controls in the front.

Now, the Weber Genesis grill is much more like all the other grills on the market, at least as far as the burner design goes. Being Weber, this wasn't a rash decision and after three years of development, the new Genesis grill is a more efficient grill. Simply stated, this grill really hasn't changed the way it cooks.

Of course, if you are reading this you are not interested in what the Genesis used to be, but what it is now. This grill is one of the most efficient standard gas grills on the market as well as one of the best built. For the price, there really isn't a better grill on the market, and while this is a basic, no frills gas grill it does what you want, it grills hot and fast, while giving you the ability to do low, indirect grilling.

To really understand the Genesis grill you need to look inside the firebox. The three burners put out only 38,000 BTUs under 507 square inches of cooking space or about 75 BTUs per square inch. While this is low when compared to other gas grills, the efficient design holds in heat, at least, the heat it creates, which is limited. The truth is that because Weber has decided to make its sear burner an option in the Genesis Grills (E-330) they have cut back on the power for the Genesis line. This way, if you have the sear burner, and you crank all the burners it won't overheat the firebox. The downside is that this grill will take longer to reach a good, high temperature.

What really makes the Weber Genesis E-310 stand out is its quality. The attention to detail that takes 3 years to change the burner design can be seen in every part of this grill.

This means that everything on this grill works (they actually fire up every grill before it is packaged) and since there is a 10-year warranty on virtually everything in this grill you can rely on it to last for at least a decade and most likely longer.

Welcome to our Weber Genesis E-310 review. Now, for many people forking out $700 on a gas grill would sound like madness when there are much cheaper models available. However, the universe has given us a rule that states “you get what you pay for.” This is certainly applicable in the case of this beautifully constructed gas grill.

So, is it worth the investment? Are there any pitfalls that could be a deal breaker? Let’s discuss the Weber Genesis E-310 in depth.

Weber Genesis E-310 Features

I’m just going to do a quick run through the main features of the product.

– 3 Stainless steel burners, 38,000 BTU

– 637 inches total cooking area (507 primary, 130 warming rack)

– porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grates

– porcelain-enameled flavorizer bars

– 2 x stainless steel side tables

– front-mounted control panel

– precision fuel gauge

– electronic crossover ignition

Let’s see if all these features add up to a high-quality, effective grill that is worth the price tag.

This is a heavy product, with the box weighing close to 200 pounds. You can see why once you open it and inspect the parts. This is heavy duty construction. Welded square tube stock frames the panels. Thick stainless steel. If you’ve ever owned a cheap made in China grill, the Weber will seem like a beast from another planet.

All the parts fit together well. I’d recommend you use a socket wrench as the included tool is not quite up to the task. If you have loads of patience you can probably get by though, but it makes sense to do a proper assembly right from the start.

The instructions are easy to follow and everything has its place. Assembly should take between one and two hours. It’s a little time-consuming, but not difficult by any standards.

Everything about this grill feels like quality. Even the knobs have a pleasant, thick quality feel to how they turn.

Heating up

The E-310 features a crossover electronic ignition that is powered by an AA battery and works like a charm. You may rightly be concerned about the 38,000 BTU on a 507 square inch cooking surface. Well, turns out BTU isn’t everything if you have the design quality right, although a little extra oomph wouldn’t have gone amiss.

As it is, the Genesis E-310 gets to 500+ degree heat in 10 – 15 minutes, which is decent enough. You can cook using both the direct and indirect method on this grill. You can even push it to 600 degree plus temperatures and have them fairly steady as well.

Cooking

Heat distribution is where the Genesis models really shine, and the E-310 is no exception. We’ve seen how, with cheaper brands that have a lot more BTU, all that extra heat is useless if it’s not spread evenly around the cooking surface, or if it gets lost through poor design.

With the Weber Genesis E-310 there are no such issues. There aren’t cold spots and you can control the heat distribution beautifully from the front control panel. The even cooking is also one of the most frequently highlighted perks of the Genesis series once you start doing some research.

One small drawback perhaps is that the flavorizer bars are porcelain-enameled and not stainless steel, so they may wear out faster than stainless steel would. Still, they’re easily replaced and not expensive, plus Weber covers them with a 2-year warranty.

Who Is It For?

The Genesis series grills are the most durable and best designed gas grills you can buy at this price point. The Genesis E-310 is right for you if

– you want a grill that will likely last you for the next decade

– you want a grill that can comfortably cook for a family or moderate social gathering

– you don’t need a dedicated searing burner or side burner

There is no doubt that Weber rules the roost when it comes to quality. You can always raise the valid issue that their cooking surfaces are smaller on a dollar for dollar basis than some of their competitors, like Char-Broil, but there is just no comparison to be made between the quality of craftsmanship and materials used on a Weber.

I’ve carefully watched the ratings for this grill over the last 3 or 4 years and they remain consistent. With many cheaper grills, the ratings tend to go down over time as issues with failing parts and rust become apparent. You just don’t get that steady downgrading with this grill, or with most other Weber products. In fact, the Amazon rating for the E-310 has gone up from 4.7 to 4.8 stars in the last year.

Weber Genesis E-310 Review Conclusion

The Weber Genesis E-310 is the best value in the Genesis range if you don’t need the searing burner or side burner that you get with the E-330 model. It has a very efficient heat design and cooks perfectly evenly. It is plenty hot enough for steaks, but if you really want to push the envelope and cook at 650+ degree heats, you may be pushing this model to its limits.

Overall, this grill is well made, beautifully designed, built to last and it cooks like a champ. Four years on since the first time I reported on it, it is more popular and trusted than ever.

Weber Genesis gas grills are among the most popular grills in the world. The Genesis II series offers well-built gas grills at an affordable price point. I love that these grills are available in several colors to fit anyone's taste, and are available in 2,3,4, or 6 burners models. The grill features an open cart design with bottom shelf that makes access to storage easy. The Genesis II also saves you valuable storage space with its propane tank storage area, located under the right side shelf, which allows you to connect and mount your propane tank underneath the side shelf. The tank mount features a handy gauge which allows you to monitor your fuel level.

The tried and true Weber Cooking System is great at providing even heat distribution and minimizing flare ups. The Genesis II features porcelain-enameled cast iron cooking grids that have notches cut out towards the front, allowing you to easily see whether each burner is lit. The grill also has a tuck-away warming rack, providing you with an additional 198-inches of cooking space when you need it. Under the grids lies the triangular-shaped Flavorizer Bars that sit directly above the burners. These shield the burners by catching drippings and turning them into smoke, adding flavor back into your food. Weber pioneered the Flavorizer Bar in 1984, and since then they've proven to do their job extremely well, which is why they're still preventing flare-ups on all Weber gas grills today!

The Genesis II is powered by stainless steel burners that get narrower towards the back of the grill. Since most grills get hotter towards the back side of the grill, this reduces that heat, producing a more consistent heat across the cooking surface. The burners are lit by a reliable push button electronic ignition and produce around 12,000 BTUs per burner.

With over 50 years in business, Weber customer service is as good as it gets. They have a 10 year warranty on the grill body and on the burners. They have reputable service and quickly handle any service or replacement part situations.

The Weber Genesis II does not score well for high heat due to a low maximum BTU output, when compared to other grills in the same class. Additionally, the porcelain-coated grates and Flavorizer Bars are not as durable compared to stainless components found on other grills, like the Genesis II Special Edition or the Genesis II LX.

Weber Spirit vs Genesis: The Ultimate Comparison

So, you’re looking for a top quality gas grill and have a hard time deciding between the Weber Spirit and the Weber Genesis ranges. It’s not an easy choice, but by isolating a few key requirements you can make the correct decision.

In this article you will find brief highlights of both ranges, key differences and a comparison table to help you find the right model for you.

Weber Spirit versus Genesis: Quality

Both these ranges offer outstanding build quality. However, the Spirit features a lower grade of stainless steel than the Genesis. They’re still high quality, well-constructed grills, but rest assured that the extra money you pay on the Genesis grills are not just for more space and heat. They’re a few steps up from the Spirit in construction quality.

Apart from the Genesis S-models (more info below) all these products feature stainless steel burners, porcelain-enamel cast iron grates and enclosed gas storage with gas gauges and thermometers.

The Genesis and Spirit Models

We have a handy comparison table a little lower down that will help you compare exact features at a glance. For now, just a quick overview of the different models on offer.

Genesis: E-310 (full review), E-330, S-310, S-330

Both ranges offer basic models and more featured models.

In the Spirit range, the basic model is the E-210 (2 burners, 450 sq. inch), which offers the bare essentials you need to get grilling, including a handy extra in the LP fuel gauge. The E-220 model adds a 12,000 BTU side burner to the E-210 setup.

Next, you step up to the Spirit E-310. This is a 3-burner 529 sq. inch model that offers slightly more cooking space than the E-210. Apart from that and the extra burner, they’re virtually identical. The E-320 upgrades the E-310 with a 12,000 BTU side burner.

The Genesis range starts with the E-310, a 637 square inch cooking surface powered by 3 burners and all the essential features you need, without added extras. For extras, you can upgrade to the Genesis E-330 (reviewed here), which adds both a side burner and a sear station to the E-310.

The S-Models

Available in both the Spirit and Genesis ranges are the S-models: the Spirit S-210 and the Genesis S-310 and S-330. They are exactly the same as their E-model counterparts, apart from the following:

– stainless steel cooking grates and flavorizer bars instead of porcelain-enamel coated cast iron (Genesis only)

– stainless steel shroud instead of porcelain enamel shroud (Genesis and Spirit)

So, Weber Spirit or Genesis?

Ok, we’ve looked at the basic differences between the models. We’ve established that the Genesis range offers better quality stainless steel construction, but you pay considerably extra for that.

So, with the Spirit still being a well-constructed unit, it comes down to your requirements in the end. How much cooking space you need, what extras you need and what your budget can handle.

Personally we feel a Genesis is worth it from a long term investment perspective. These grills are built to last, and a model like the Genesis E-330 will give you everything you’ll ever need from a gas grill in this price range. Spending a bit more from the start has its advantages in the long term.

However, the choice is yours. The one thing we can recommend is that you get a model with a side burner. You don’t want to save fifty bucks now by skipping it, only to realize a few months down the road that it would have been nice to have. Buy once and buy right.

The Bottom Line Seasoned BBQ pros will like the Weber Genesis II’s sturdy construction and thoughtful design, but casual cooks should buy a basic grill instead.

Weber's reputation for building durable, practical outdoor grills goes back decades. Now the company wants you to think smart, too, when you think Weber. To that end, the $850 Weber Genesis II E-310 has lots of what you expect from a Weber BBQ, plus a side of app connectivity.

To enable the smarts on this already expensive propane cooker you'll need to shell out an extra $100 for Weber's iGrill 3 accessory. It's actually a fairly useful add-on, but it's not included in the core product. Due to three powerful burners and sensitive heat controls, mastering your grilling technique on this hot-rod cooker also takes practice.

All this makes the Genesis II suited to more experienced grill enthusiasts with the patience to master this high-end unit. If smarts in a more forgiving high-end grill is what you want, the $800 Char-Broil SmartChef Tru-Infrared is slightly cheaper and easier to use.
