Weber Q 3200 Gas Grills

Weber-Stephen

Weber-Stephen is one of the oldest and most respected manufacturers of BBQ equipment and related accessories in the world. Weber grills and smokers cook beautifully and have great features that are clever, effective and easy to use. As popularity and demand for BBQ gear grows worldwide, Weber continues to earn their long standing reputation for quality, durability and outstanding customer service and support, (7 days a week from 7am to 9pm CST), in an increasingly competitive environment. Even in this crowded marketplace, many consumers are still willing to pay more for the Weber name and they are rarely disappointed. They make a variety of cookers and smokers. Their iconic black charcoal kettles are known throughout the world. Indeed Weber is expanding globally.

Weber-Stephen was family owned since it was founded in 1952 by George Stephen. At the end of 2010 the Stephen family sold a majority stake to Chicago investment group BDT Capital Partners. In 2012, Weber settled a class action suit out of court regarding their use of the phrase, "Made in USA". Weber previously qualified the "Made in USA" statement by specifying their products are assembled in the USA with some components that are sourced globally. Here is an excerpt from Weber's statement "Weber believes that because all Weber grills and the disputed accessories are designed and engineered in the USA, and all grills save for one line [Spirit]* are manufactured and assembled in the USA using component parts primarily made in the USA, it did nothing wrong and therefore has valid defenses to plaintiff's claims. The court has not held a trial or ruled in favor of either party on any disputed issues. Weber and the plaintiff have agreed to settle the matter to avoid the costs of continued litigation." As a result of this suit, Weber can no longer claim to be made in America.

Things change, but we believe Weber's commitment to quality and innovation has not.

The biggest barrier for many folks is price. Webers are not cheap, but when you consider that they last decades, the price is easy to justify. In fact, when you consider the fact that some cheap grills fall apart after three years or so, Webers might be considered a bargain.

Our main complaint: All Webers have the obligatory bi-metal dial thermometer in the hood that gives you a ballpark reading of what the temperature is high above the meat. Since we cook on the grates, though, it's always better to bring your own digital thermometer and place a probe there. It would be nice if they would go digital in the digital age and it appears with their acquisition of iGrill digital thermometers, this is begining to change.

*At the very end of 2016 Weber introduced their new line of Genesis II gas grills to replace the popular Genesis series. Genesis II is made in China. Genesis II LX is still made in Palatine, IL.

Weber Gas Grills

Weber gas grills are simply the gold standard. Designed intelligently with attention to details and built to last, they look good, work beautifully, and almost never break down. If they do, Weber is known for great customer service and for carrying an inventory of parts on models from years gone by. Meathead owned a Genesis for 15-years and can testify from experience.

All their burners are quality stainless steel, have a long life expectancy, and they come with electronic ignitions. The body is heavy. The casters are sturdy and lock solid. Nothing wobbles on Webers. The grease drip pans are easy to access from the front, not the back as with many other grills. Except for the portable/compact Q line, all models hold the propane tank inside the enclosed cart, and can be adapted for natural gas. They have smaller vents in the hood than most gassers which means they retain more heat than grills with more BTUs.

All have inverted V shaped "flavorizer" bars that cover and protect the burners while vaporizing drips and turning them into flavor that gets back up onto the meat. Except for the Q line, all either come with a rotisserie or you can order one as a factory accessory.

Weber gas grills come in four basic flavors, Q, Spirit, Genesis II, and Summit, each with several configurations. Models starting with an "E" are built with Weber's sturdy porcelainized enamel coated steel, and those starting with an "S" are mostly stainless steel.

Addressing an increased interest in outdoor kitchens, in 2011 Weber introduced add on "Island Cabinetry" and "Social Centers", pictured above, to integrate with the Summit lines. These range from matching side tables with enclosed storage to cart mounted side burners, enclosed trash cans and large "Social Areas" that serve as a bar with double door storage underneath. There is also a faux stone island with matching countertops.

Much has been made of 430 and 304 stainless steel: the two most popular grades used by grill manufacturers. Many other inexpensive brands use very thin, low cost 430 stainless to get that shiny showroom floor look. Premium grill makers tout their use of higher quality, higher priced 304 stainless. At some point, Weber decided to switch from 304 to 430. Although 304 is superior, 430 can work just fine if it is a thick gauge like Weber uses, but it is not as durable and one has to expect the life of the grill will be shortened. Will this decision could come back to haunt the castle in Palatine? Only time will tell. Alas, it does not appear Weber's prices were reduced to reflect the cost savings realized with this change.

Weber's Q series started out as small, portable gas and electric grills. Many owners found they liked their little Qs both on the go or at home. So Weber added a few larger models and put some of them on small carts. Although Weber's quality and service usually justify their higher prices, there are a lot of mid and large size economy grills in the Q price range. That said if these small to compact cookers fit your size requirements, they are fun and functional with an appealing, modern look.

Q grills have coated, cast aluminum housings, porcelain enameled cast iron grates, stainless steel burners on gas models, electric ignition, removable grease pans and most come with the obligatory heat indicator in the lid. The cast iron grates are split so one side may be removed and replaced with an optional cast iron griddle.

Silver Medal

This compact grill grew from the popularity of Weber's small portable Q 100/120 and 200/220 models. Many owners found they liked these little grills both on the go or at home. So Weber made them bigger with hose and regulator for a 20lb. LP tank standard and put them on a small cart. In 2014 Weber began offering natural gas models as well. They have some nice features for an apartment/patio style grill for small spaces. The 393 square inch primary cooking surface is big for a space saver. Although Weber's quality and service usually justify their higher prices, once you get into this price range there are an awful lot of choices that provide more for the money. That said if the Q 3200 fits your size requirements, it's fun and functional with an appealing, modern look.

3200 has a coated, cast aluminum housing with the obligatory heat indicator in the lid. Like the large cooking area, the lid has a bit more height than many compacts, enabling owners to cook roasts and chickens. There are 2 stainless steel burners. One burner wraps around the perimeter of the firebox and a second burner runs through the middle from side to side. Set both burners on high for direct heat cooking and shut off the middle burner to create a small indirect section. Grates are porcelain-enameled cast iron. The cart is nylon and has two removable, fold-down side shelves with tool hooks. Two large wheels on the right side with a bottom shelf for the LP tank which is concealed by a thin nylon sheet. A slide out catch pan at the bottom of the firebox holds a disposable grease pan and may be accessed from under the left side shelf.

It includes battery powered ignition, a 69 square inch warming rack and a Weber Grill Out LED light on the handle that illuminate the grill surface.

Weber Q 3200

Got Limited Space?

The Bottom Line

The Q 3200 gas grill grew out of the popularity of the original Q. This super-sized model is designed more for the person who has limited space than the person who needs to transport their grill. At 83 pounds all together, this isn't a grill to take on a picnic. This grill does, however, provide you with indirect cooking abilities and as much space as a small, traditional gas grill.

This grill will give you authentic grilling right down to the warming rack in a unit that is easily stored and doesn't take up a lot of space.

Guide Review - Weber Q 3200

When Weber introduced the Q portable gas grill they found a lot of people not taking it to the beach but keeping it on their patio. It was a perfect grill for urban dwellers that didn't have a backyard but still wanted to grill. In 2006, Weber introduced the Q 3200, a larger, two-burner gas grill that comes standard with the previously optional stand.

This unit also comes standard with the hose and regulator to hook it to a 20-pound propane tank. After all, at 21,700 BTUs, it would go through disposable, 1-pound bottles very fast.

While not strictly a portable, this grill is a great compromise between a large full feature grill and a traditional portable, making it perfect for apartment dwellers or tailgaters. The two-burner design gives you indirect cooking abilities. One burner runs around the edges of the grilling area while the other cuts through the middle. This gives the grill the power it needs to heat 393 square inches of cooking area hot enough to grill steaks while giving you a lot more versatility in your grilling.

For the price, the construction of this Weber is a good grill. The straightforward design is a model of simplicity and the grill doesn't rely on lots of extras. This is a basic unit grill, perfect for someone who wants to grill small meals in a small place.

45 Day No Hassle Returns

We want you to love what you buy! But if you don’t, we offer a simple “No Hassle Returns” policy. We allow you to return all new, unused, unassembled, and resalable items in their original packaging within 45 days of delivery for a refund (minus the original and return shipping costs incurred by BBQGuys.com). Naturally, if your return is because of our error, you are not responsible for any shipping costs.

  • If your return request is due to product defect or damage, we will first work with you to get the product repaired. If repair is not possible, then we’ll work with you to get it replaced.
  • If your return will be coming back via freight truck, we will require you to provide us a photo before your return will be authorized. This can be as simple as a cell phone pic! We just need a “before” picture in case there is any damage to the item on its way back to us.
  • To expedite the returns process, before shipping the item(s) back, make sure they are clean, the packaging is sufficient to prevent damage, and (if necessary) you note all defects along with the photos taken.

Important information about refund eligibility:

To be eligible for a “No Hassle Return,” items must be returned within 45 days of delivery in “Like New” condition. “Like New” condition is when a returned item is unused, unassembled, and has been returned in the original packaging.

  • Full refunds do not apply to certain items, including clearance items, gift cards, gift certificates, items that have been personalized, and items clearly marked as “non-returnable,” such as products sold as “Warehouse Deals.”
  • The costs of return shipping are deducted from your refund or merchandise credit.
  • In many cases, refunds are not processed until the item has been inspected by us in our warehouse.
  • Refunds must be applied to the same credit card, debit card, or other form of payment used in the original transaction.
  • In many cases, refunds are not processed until the item is inspected upon return delivery.
  • BBQGuys.com reserves the right to refuse a refund on a returned item if:
    • The item that has been returned does not match the original item shipped to the customer.
    • The returned item is missing parts or the original product’s packaging.
    • The item was damaged during the return shipment due to improper or insufficient packaging.
    • The item being returned has been obviously heavily used (such as significant charcoal buildup inside a grill).
    • The item has been assembled in a way that would impede proper packaging for return shipping.

In exchange situations, there are TWO options:

  1. If you need the product right away, you can purchase a replacement on a new order to get it shipped out as soon as possible. Then return the original item and we’ll refund you for the original once we’ve received it back to our warehouse in “Like New” condition.
  2. If you can wait a little longer, return the original item and once we’ve received it back to our warehouse in “Like New” condition, we’ll refund you for that purchase, then have you purchase the replacement on a new order and we’ll ship the replacement as soon as possible.

I have been ordering from BBQ Guys around 5 years - they have consistently provided wonderful service and the people on the phones have always been warm, friendly and patient - I mostly order online but every now and then you need a live person and these folks are the best - totally 5 STARS!

We have been working with BBQ Guys to finish our new outdoor kitchen. Seda did great work explaining everything to us and helping us select just the right equipment at just the right price. He is a real credit to your business.

I ordered an outdoor refrigerator and a Primo XL cooker from the BBQGuys online store. The prices were very competitive. I was pleased with the communications and prompt processing of the order. Both arrived via freight carrier. The firebox on the Primo cooker was broken. The customer service was great and the firebox was replaced quickly. I highly recommend BBQGuys. I will be shopping with them again.

Completely happy with the products I have purchased through BBQGuys. While one of the appliances I ordered did stop working within a years time Kimberly in customer care took control of my issue in a prompt, friendly and professional manner replacing the appliance without any frustration or hardship on my part. Easy and actually painless as my expectation was, when I started the process, that I was going to be in for a long drawn out ordeal. With the quality of products they sell and the customer care they offer I will always make BBQGuys my number one choice of outdoor kitchen appliances.

I would highly recommend using BBGuys.com to purchase a bbq. Dominic was very helpful in finding the right size grill to fit my needs. He was great in keeping in touch with me through the process. I would recommend calling if you have any questions as Dominic assisted me through the entire process.

Weber Q 3200 Portable Grill Reviews and Ratings

Weber Q 3200 Portable Grill Reviews and Ratings

The Weber Q 3200 portable grill is one of Weber’s best sellers. It is the updated version of their Q320, a very popular model. The Weber Q 3200 is available in both a liquid propane and a natural gas version. Because the Weber Q 3200 is billed as a portable unit, we find that the liquid propane version is a more popular seller. As a result, that’s the version we focus on in our ratings. Weber has been making grills for five decades, the granddaddy of barbecues. And they’re still cooking, still innovating and coming up with advanced models and accessories. Their motto is “By grillers, for grillers.”

Here is a look at the Weber Q 3200 from a user’s point of view to help you decide if this is the right model for you. There is an overall summary of its features, then a look at what people like about it and what they don’t.

Weber Q 3200 in a Nutshell

The Q 3200 Liquid Propane Grill has two burners made of stainless steel that produce 21,700 BTU an hour. This is enough to heat 393 square inches of cooking space. It operates off a 20-pound propane tank, which is not included. The Q3200 also comes in a natural gas version. In addition:

  • The grates are cast iron with porcelain-enamel coating. The body and lid are made of cast aluminum. It is mounted on a wheeled cart for ease of movement.
  • The split grates make it easy to use it for a combination of foods, both grate and griddle, at the same time. The griddle is sold separately.
  • The burner valve uses infinite control and will lock in at the temperature you specify. Starting is easy, just push a button with the electronic ignition.
  • It has a warming rack, built in thermometer and a grill handle light. To organize tools, there are three hooks and a place to stow the warming rack. The propane tank is secured on a bracket in back.

This is the new redesign of the Q320, which has been discontinued. Here’s how the Weber Q 3200 is different than the Q 320:

  • More ergonomic side handles
  • New front and rear cradles
  • New larger fold-down side tables with better rigidity

Read the reviews

  • The Q3200 gets high marks, especially when it comes to cleanup, temperature control and size.
  • Cooks love the porcelain cooking grids because they are easy to clean. The entire unit is made for quick cleanup.
  • Users also like the fact that the grates heat quickly and uniformly and the grill has few flare ups. Once you set the temperature, it heats up rapidly.
  • It works well for all types of meat and vegetables.
  • The cooking surface is large relative to the size of the unit. It can cook meat and vegetables for six quickly and conveniently.
  • It can be used for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The optional griddle gets rave reviews. One advantage is that if you bacon and eggs outside, you don’t have to worry about bacon grease in the house.
  • It can easily handle a large mound of home fries. Burgers, hot dogs and steaks cook quickly and are juicy. The unit sears food evenly and speedily.
  • It can be used to slow-cook ribs, briskets and whole chickens. It is perfect for roasting, even a 20-lb. turkey comes out cooked to perfection. If you like to smoke food, it has a handy smoke tube.

  • One major drawback is the fact that it has no flavor bar like the larger Weber grills, and offers no option for using lava rock or briquettes. This is a problem for those who like using them.
  • Though it comes on a sturdy cart with wheels, it is heavy and fairly large, making it what one user called “semi-portable.” The warming rack is handy but it would be nice if it were larger.
  • It’s a bit of a challenge to assemble. Some people find the instructions less than crystal clear. It takes about 1.5 hours to assemble.

Is the Weber Q 3200 Right For You?

  • If you live in an apartment, it is an excellent size. If you don’t like a lot of cleanup, this is a good model for you.
  • If you use your grill often, this is a good choice because it is easy to turn on, easy to clean. This also makes it convenient if you are grilling for just one or two people.
  • If you routinely grill for six or more, the big cooking surface makes this a handy model to get.
  • If aesthetics are important to you, this is a good choice. The overall design is sleek. And the food comes out looking attractive.

  • If you don’t have the space, patience or ability to assemble it, you might have problems when it arrives. One way around this is to pay Amazon to put it together for you and ship it complete, for an additional fee.
  • If flavor bars, briquettes and lava rock are important parts of your grilling routine, this is not the right model for you.
  • If you need to move the grill around a lot and you don’t have much room, this may not be the best choice. It is considered semi-portable and is heavy, though it does have wheels on its cart.

Overall the Weber Q3200 Liquid Propane Grill gets high marks from users. It looks sleek and is easy to start and to clean. It cooks a wide range of food quickly and evenly.

Step 19 Install Flavorizer Bars and Cooking Grates You will need: five long Flavorizer Bars, eight short Flavorizer Bars and two cooking grates. Set the long Flavorizer Bars side to side in the lower position, then set the short Flavorizer Bars front to back in the upper position in the cooking box.

You can adjust the FRONT, CENTER and BACK burners as desired. The control settings High (H), Medium (M), Low (L), or Off (O) are described in your Weber cookbook. The cookbook uses these notations to describe the settings of the FRONT, CENTER, and BACK burners. For example, to sear steaks you would use (HHH) (all burners at high).

Page 28: Refilling The Lp Tank

Refilling the LP tank We recommend that you refill before the scale indicator reaches "E". Note - If you run out of fuel, check the indicator setting and/or adjust the fuel scale indicator setting with the scale setting wing nut, while the tank is empty so you do not run out again.

If leak does not stop, turn off the gas and contact Weber-Stephen Customer Service. Do not use the barbecue. g) When leak checks are complete, turn gas supply OFF and rinse connections with water.

General Maintenance Weber Spider Stopper Guards Your Weber Gas Barbecue, as well as any outdoor gas appliance, is a target for spiders and other insects. They can nest in the venturi section of the burner tubes. This blocks the normal gas flow, and can cause the gas to flow back out of the air shutter.

We allow you to return all new, unused, unassembled, and resalable items in their original packaging within 45 days of delivery for a refund (minus the original and return shipping costs incurred by BBQGuys.com). Naturally, if your return is because of our error, you are not responsible for any shipping costs.

    Stewart E. 2016-01
