Guide Review - Weber Spirit E-210 Gourmet BBQ System

For those that want more than basic grilling, the Gourmet BBQ System from Weber offers almost unlimited potential for accessories.

While this grill comes with a standard griddle attachment there is a host of other accessories available ranging in price from around $35USD to $55USD. What this special version offers is not only $100USD off the MRSP for this model grill but a free accessory system. Obviously, Home Depot and Weber believe that consumers will be willing to add those additional pieces and, therefore, generate additional sales, but for the consumer, this is a tremendous value for an excellent grill.

With a small footprint, this is a very basic 2-burner gas grill. The 2 burners generate 26,500 BTUs of heat under 360 square inches of porcelain-coated cast iron cooking grates. This is not a powerful grill and the preheat times are long. However, the grates hold a lot of heat and allow for good heat transfer. This grill will do a good job of grilling a steak or burgers. The temperature range is wide, so low-temperature cooking is very good. The 2-burner design gives enough space to indirectly cook a whole chicken or a roast, but the capacity is limited. Of course, anyone looking to buy a grill this size isn't looking for a large cooking area.

The construction is good. Weber abandoned higher quality stainless steel in favor of price control, so this doesn't have the durability of Weber of the past, but it is still a well-made grill. The majority of the body is enameled steel, something Weber is very good at and I would recommend this black grill over the more expensive stainless steel body paneled Spirit S-210.

Weber-Stephen is one of the oldest and most respected manufacturers of BBQ equipment and related accessories in the world. Weber grills and smokers cook beautifully and have great features that are clever, effective and easy to use. As popularity and demand for BBQ gear grows worldwide, Weber continues to earn their long standing reputation for quality, durability and outstanding customer service and support, (7 days a week from 7am to 9pm CST), in an increasingly competitive environment. Even in this crowded marketplace, many consumers are still willing to pay more for the Weber name and they are rarely disappointed. They make a variety of cookers and smokers. Their iconic black charcoal kettles are known throughout the world. Indeed Weber is expanding globally.

Weber-Stephen was family owned since it was founded in 1952 by George Stephen. At the end of 2010 the Stephen family sold a majority stake to Chicago investment group BDT Capital Partners. In 2012, Weber settled a class action suit out of court regarding their use of the phrase, "Made in USA". Weber previously qualified the "Made in USA" statement by specifying their products are assembled in the USA with some components that are sourced globally. Here is an excerpt from Weber's statement "Weber believes that because all Weber grills and the disputed accessories are designed and engineered in the USA, and all grills save for one line [Spirit]* are manufactured and assembled in the USA using component parts primarily made in the USA, it did nothing wrong and therefore has valid defenses to plaintiff's claims. The court has not held a trial or ruled in favor of either party on any disputed issues. Weber and the plaintiff have agreed to settle the matter to avoid the costs of continued litigation." As a result of this suit, Weber can no longer claim to be made in America.

Things change, but we believe Weber's commitment to quality and innovation has not.

The biggest barrier for many folks is price. Webers are not cheap, but when you consider that they last decades, the price is easy to justify. In fact, when you consider the fact that some cheap grills fall apart after three years or so, Webers might be considered a bargain.

Our main complaint: All Webers have the obligatory bi-metal dial thermometer in the hood that gives you a ballpark reading of what the temperature is high above the meat. Since we cook on the grates, though, it's always better to bring your own digital thermometer and place a probe there. It would be nice if they would go digital in the digital age and it appears with their acquisition of iGrill digital thermometers, this is begining to change.

*At the very end of 2016 Weber introduced their new line of Genesis II gas grills to replace the popular Genesis series. Genesis II is made in China. Genesis II LX is still made in Palatine, IL.

Weber Gas Grills

Weber gas grills are simply the gold standard. Designed intelligently with attention to details and built to last, they look good, work beautifully, and almost never break down. If they do, Weber is known for great customer service and for carrying an inventory of parts on models from years gone by. Meathead owned a Genesis for 15-years and can testify from experience.

All their burners are quality stainless steel, have a long life expectancy, and they come with electronic ignitions. The body is heavy. The casters are sturdy and lock solid. Nothing wobbles on Webers. The grease drip pans are easy to access from the front, not the back as with many other grills. Except for the portable/compact Q line, all models hold the propane tank inside the enclosed cart, and can be adapted for natural gas. They have smaller vents in the hood than most gassers which means they retain more heat than grills with more BTUs.

All have inverted V shaped "flavorizer" bars that cover and protect the burners while vaporizing drips and turning them into flavor that gets back up onto the meat. Except for the Q line, all either come with a rotisserie or you can order one as a factory accessory.

Weber gas grills come in four basic flavors, Q, Spirit, Genesis II, and Summit, each with several configurations. Models starting with an "E" are built with Weber's sturdy porcelainized enamel coated steel, and those starting with an "S" are mostly stainless steel.

Addressing an increased interest in outdoor kitchens, in 2011 Weber introduced add on "Island Cabinetry" and "Social Centers", pictured above, to integrate with the Summit lines. These range from matching side tables with enclosed storage to cart mounted side burners, enclosed trash cans and large "Social Areas" that serve as a bar with double door storage underneath. There is also a faux stone island with matching countertops.

Much has been made of 430 and 304 stainless steel: the two most popular grades used by grill manufacturers. Many other inexpensive brands use very thin, low cost 430 stainless to get that shiny showroom floor look. Premium grill makers tout their use of higher quality, higher priced 304 stainless. At some point, Weber decided to switch from 304 to 430. Although 304 is superior, 430 can work just fine if it is a thick gauge like Weber uses, but it is not as durable and one has to expect the life of the grill will be shortened. Will this decision could come back to haunt the castle in Palatine? Only time will tell. Alas, it does not appear Weber's prices were reduced to reflect the cost savings realized with this change.

Weber Spirit Gas Grills

Spirit is Weber's entry level and their least expensive line of gas grills. Made in China, they are the subject of criticism from Weber devotees who have always prized their high quality and American made status. In 2012, however, Weber settled a class action lawsuit that objected to Weber's use of the Made in America label on any of their grills. With the exception of Spirit, Weber maintains that all their products are assembled in America and most components are made in America with some being outsourced globally. As part of the settlement, Weber no longer uses the term "Made in America" for their products.

Regardless, their long standing reputation for quality and customer care remains intact and many people are still willing to pay more for the Weber name. Spirit was completely redesigned in 2013 to bring it closer in in appearance and performance to Weber's mid-line Genesis series.

Spirit comes in three basic flavors: E, S and SP. E series has black porcelain enameled housing, cast iron grates, flavorizer bars and a 430 grade stainless steel work surface. Single door painted metal carts with casters. S includes all E features except the hood and door are stainless steel. SP is the same as S but upgrades the grates to 7 mm stainless rods and adds a side-mounted condiment rack. All models have battery powered ignition.

Gold Medal

Weber's entry level Spirit line was completely redesigned for 2013. Spirit E-310 has three stainless steel burners for a total output of 32,000 BTU. It is the largest Spirit model with 424 square inches primary cooking surface and a 105 square inch warming rack.

A big change for Spirit in 2013 was reconfiguration of the burner layout. Burners used to connect from side to side with control knobs on the right side shelf. The new Spirit burners connect from front to back with control knobs on the front panel. This not only frees up work space on the side shelf, but provides better performance when cooking indirect or 2-zone. Indeed Weber Genesis, Summit and most other manufacturer's gas grills follow this burner design. Also included is Weber's in cart LP tank fuel gauge that gives an approximate indication of fuel level by tank weight.

The E-310 has black porcelain enameled grates, flavorizer bars, housing and single door enclosed carts with a stainless steel work surface. The lightish hood is made of porcelain-enameled steel. The stainless work surface has cast aluminum end caps with built-in tool hooks. It rests on four casters (two locking) and has battery powered ignition.

Spirit was always a very basic, well made, serviceable grill line. The 2013 redesign offers significant upgrades and considerable value. Owners of previous Spirit grills may rub their eyes in disbelief as they behold these new cookers that barely resemble past models. Although Spirit is Weber's entry level price point, it is still more expensive than many other popular grill brands. However, most Spirit owners feel the quality, durability and performance are worth the price.

Disappointment

This grill had one flaw that prevents me from purchasing. Went to local ace hardware today to purchase, and learned that the tank sits on the ground. So the sale was lost. Since this item would be on a deck in the Northeast, movability is paramount during snow cleanup. I sincerely hope that Weber redesigns the tank area. Total disappointment as this was to be a birthday gift from the family.

The Weber Spirit line are highly rated. I initially bought the 310 from another store only to find the assembled item would not fir in my car. I also found the support to be wanting. Cancelling that one, I discovered the difference in grill size is two hamburger patties.

Best Grill I've Owned

I have owned 3 propane grills previously including a Charbroil and a newer Ducane, not the older more durable ones. I was concerned about two main features when evaluating grills this go around: evenness of heat on grill surface and durability of the cook box.

None of my prior grills compare to the evenness of the heat on this grill. I was worried about evenness of heat since you cannot really test this at the store. In grilling a dozen times or so I do not find any hot/cold spots on the grill grates. This allows me to maximize my space and grill as much food as I could on my old 3 burner grill where I had to place food in strategic places for hot/cold spot. No more reorganizing food every time I flip it to get even levels of doneness.

As for durability, the Weber is the only brand that I could find in the sub $1,000 price range with a cast aluminum cook box. Trust me, invest in this if you want a grill to last more than 7 years. Each of my previous grills have failed due to rusting out the sheet metal cook box. That is why the cast aluminum cook box is vital to the durability. We all know in 5-7 years you are going to replace the burners and flavor bars etc. if you want to keep the grill operating well. But the cook box is not something you can or want to replace due to cost and size. If the cook box fails, you are buying a whole new grill. As a final thought, at least when a burner or grill grate fails with a Weber you can always find a replacement. Not so much with a Charbroil or most other brands.

I love my little Weber!

I've just down-sized from a house with a built-in grill - which I never used. Too big, too hard to clean, too inconvenient from the kitchen. This little grill sits right outside my kitchen door, starts right up when I want it, heats quickly and does a super job. My son and I put it together in about an hour and were impressed by how well engineered it was - pieces fit exactly as they were supposed to, all the parts were there and clearly labeled, instructions were clearly written. Everything worked (even the often-glitchy starter), and we've been using it almost nightly for two weeks now. It's just perfect, and I'm so glad I bought it!

Great small grill

I had bought a big grill which rotted out after only 5 years - it was not a Weber - so I decided to go back to a Weber and am extremely happy with this one. Best grill I've ever owned.

At just one month and a very rainy Spring I haven't had many opportunities to use my new Weber Grill. But so far it's turning out to be the best I've ever owned. Weber grills are not cheap but this product seems to deliver excellent performance and ease of use for the mony. The electronic spark lights instantly and pre-heat is rapid. Temperature recovery when the top is opened or food added is rapid. The built-in thermometer is a plus. Drop-down side tables of both sides will make winter storage easier. The built-in tank scale may be a bit difficult to load but at least provides propane supply information. Overall build quality seems quite good. My grill had been pre-assembled by my Ace Hardware so I am unable to comment easy of assembly. With a little care I think this product will provide years of service and I'm confident repair parts will be available if necessary.

Excellent Product cooks great.

Love this grill so far, cooks great. The only issue I have is that the standard propane tank sits directly on the deck/floor and the grill is on wheels, so the grill can't be moved with the tank underneath. Maybe I need a bigger tank, not sure. First time griller.

    Weber is superb quality and lasts for years. I was really impressed with the speedy, hassle free service from Riverside; would definately recommend them.

    It looks like a serious piece of kit! It was very easy to assemble (I put it together on my own over a couple of very relaxed hours - femal 67 yrs old). It looks superb! I have not used it yet so cannot comment on its performance but I don't think there will be any issues given Weber's reputation. The price was reasonable (purchased in the sale here). Had it been at the non-sale price I would not have considered it as I was looking for a mid-range BBQ. It arrived flat packed (well almost as you can't flat pack a metal bowl) and it is of an excellent quality, all the parts were there and it arrived on Tuesday (ordered it on Sunday). Very pleased with this BBQ and would recommend.

    Very happy that I chose this particular model. Having had an Original for many years I appreciate the added features, fold down table, temp gauge etc. Easy to assemble and cook on. Very impressed with pain free and speedy delivery from Riverside Garden Centre. Would recommend both them and this model.

    Excellent purchase. Recommended for the advanced BBQ'er. It does everything you would want from a quality BBQ and we have had some delicious meals in the few days we have had it.     Weber Gourmet BBQ System

    How we tested

    Since many grilling gadgets promise more than they deliver, we wondered if we courted disappointment with the new Weber Gourmet BBQ System. Designed to expand on our longtime favorite charcoal grill, its mechanics are simple: Replace the cooking grate on the Weber 22 1/2-inch One-Touch or Performer Grill with a stainless steel grate ($29) featuring a removable inner 12-inch circle and insert any of three cast-iron attachments: a crosshatched sear grate, a griddle, or a wok While the sear grate ($29 or $54.99 with the stainless steel grate grate) created beautiful, professional-looking crosshatch grill marks on large cuts of meat, the widely spaced pattern was far less discernible on smaller cuts and burgers.

    Furthermore, inserting the sear grate into the grate once the coals were hot was challenging; a few times it slipped into the fire. We recommend assembling the two components on a flat surface before placing them over hot coals.

    The griddle attachment allowed us to get great crust on delicate proteins such as scallops and salmon, and eliminated the sticking and tearing associated with traditional grates. It also kept vegetables nicely contained. But a solid pan bottom limits exposure to smoke flavor—and what’s the point of grilling if you don’t get good grill flavor? Unlike the sear grate, the griddle must also be removed after cooking to prevent a burned-on mess (a maneuver requiring elbow-length potholders and a trivet). If we want to prevent sticking or keep smaller items corralled, we’re better off with our favorite grill pan, whose perforated bottom allows smoke to penetrate. (Plus, it doesn’t require the purchase of a specialized grate.)

    Finally, we tried the wok, preparing beef and vegetable stir-fry. Each batch seared beautifully. But when we were ready to add the vegetables, the wok had cooled, so we needed to cover the grill and wait for it to reheat. Overall the wok performed adequately, but it took more than twice as long as stir-frying indoors. Furthermore, it added no grill flavor, and its rough texture made it difficult to wipe with paper towels between batches. Last but not least, cleaning a 10-pound pan that’s hard to fit into a sink is a big chore. (The wok is the only component not available in a set with the modular grate.

    We found one final fault with the Gourmet BBQ System: the stainless cooking grate isn’t as seamless as a traditional grate. Its hinges and connecting parts create areas in which any food grilled around the perimeter of an attachment can easily become lodged. These areas also make bumps that snag your spatula.

    The bottom line: We might consider buying the sear plate and the griddle for the fun of it, but the wok is definitely not worth the expense.

    The Results

    Design Trifecta 360 Knife Block

    Admittedly expensive, this handsome block certainly seemed to live up to its billing as “the last knife block you ever have to buy.” The heaviest model in our testing, this block was ultrastable, and its durable bamboo exterior was a breeze to clean. Well-placed medium-strength magnets made it easy to attach all our knives, and a rotating base gave us quick access to them. One tiny quibble: The blade of our 12-inch slicing knife stuck out a little.

    Schmidt Brothers Downtown Block

    This roomy block completely sheathed our entire winning knife set using just one of its two sides—and quite securely, thanks to long, medium-strength magnet bars. Heavy, with a grippy base, this block was very stable. An acrylic guard made this model extra-safe but also made it a little trickier to insert knives and to clean; the wood block itself showed some minor cosmetic scratching during use.

    Schmidt Brothers Midtown Block

    This smaller version of the Downtown Block secured all our knives nicely, though the blade of the slicing knife stuck out a bit. With a base lined with grippy material, this block was very stable. An acrylic guard afforded extra protection against contact with blades but made it a little harder to insert knives and to clean; the wood itself got a little scratched during use.

    Swissmar Bamboo Magnetic Knife Block

    This small, scratch-resistant model had a stable, rubber-lined base and could hold all our knives, though the blade of the 12-inch slicing knife stuck out a bit. But inch-long gaps between its small magnets made coverage uneven and forced us to find the magnetic hot spots in order to secure the knives. Its acrylic guard made it safer to use but harder to insert knives and to clean.

    Messermeister Walnut Magnet Block

    This handsome block was done in by its shape—a tippy, top-heavy quarter-circle that wasn’t tall or broad enough to keep the blades of three knives from poking out. It lacked a nonslip base, and its extra-strong magnets made it unnerving to attach or remove our heavy cleaver. Finally, it got a bit scratched after extensive use.

    Epicurean Standing Knife Rack 12"

    This magnetic block sheathed all our knives completely, though with a bit of crowding. But it was hard to insert each knife without hitting the block’s decorative slats on way down, and because the block was light and narrow, it wobbled when bumped. Worse, we couldn’t take it apart, so splatters that hit the interior were there to stay. Additionally, the outside stained easily, and when we wiped it down, the unit smelled like wet dog.

    Kapoosh Rondelle Knife Block

    This model stabilized knives with a mass of stiff, spaghetti-like bristles that shed and nicked easily after extensive use, covering our knives with plastic debris. While all our knives fit securely, several of the blades stuck out, making this unit feel less safe overall. Finally, though the bristles could be removed and cleaned in the dishwasher, their nooks and crannies made this block hard to wash by hand.

    Kuhn Rikon Vision Knife Block, Clear

    This plastic block required us to aim each knife into the folds of an accordion-pleated insert that was removable for easy cleaning but got nicked easily with repeated use. Because we could only insert the knives vertically, longer knife blades stuck out; a cleaver was too wide to fit. The lightest model in our lineup, this block was dangerously top-heavy when loaded with knives.

    Disappointment

    This grill had one flaw that prevents me from purchasing. Went to local ace hardware today to purchase, and learned that the tank sits on the ground. So the sale was lost. Since this item would be on a deck in the Northeast, movability is paramount during snow cleanup. I sincerely hope that Weber redesigns the tank area. Total disappointment as this was to be a birthday gift from the family.

    The Weber Spirit line are highly rated. I initially bought the 310 from another store only to find the assembled item would not fir in my car. I also found the support to be wanting. Cancelling that one, I discovered the difference in grill size is two hamburger patties.

    This is the first grill I've owned and I am amazed by how easy it is to use. I've already used it four times in the first week (twice in the rain) and have only positive things to say about. Love how evenly it heats the cooking surface and how sensitive the thermometer is to changes in heat.

    Pat the Grill-Maestro

    Best Grill I've Owned

    I have owned 3 propane grills previously including a Charbroil and a newer Ducane, not the older more durable ones. I was concerned about two main features when evaluating grills this go around: evenness of heat on grill surface and durability of the cook box.

    None of my prior grills compare to the evenness of the heat on this grill. I was worried about evenness of heat since you cannot really test this at the store. In grilling a dozen times or so I do not find any hot/cold spots on the grill grates. This allows me to maximize my space and grill as much food as I could on my old 3 burner grill where I had to place food in strategic places for hot/cold spot. No more reorganizing food every time I flip it to get even levels of doneness.

    As for durability, the Weber is the only brand that I could find in the sub $1,000 price range with a cast aluminum cook box. Trust me, invest in this if you want a grill to last more than 7 years. Each of my previous grills have failed due to rusting out the sheet metal cook box. That is why the cast aluminum cook box is vital to the durability. We all know in 5-7 years you are going to replace the burners and flavor bars etc. if you want to keep the grill operating well. But the cook box is not something you can or want to replace due to cost and size. If the cook box fails, you are buying a whole new grill. As a final thought, at least when a burner or grill grate fails with a Weber you can always find a replacement. Not so much with a Charbroil or most other brands.

    I love my little Weber!

    I've just down-sized from a house with a built-in grill - which I never used. Too big, too hard to clean, too inconvenient from the kitchen. This little grill sits right outside my kitchen door, starts right up when I want it, heats quickly and does a super job. My son and I put it together in about an hour and were impressed by how well engineered it was - pieces fit exactly as they were supposed to, all the parts were there and clearly labeled, instructions were clearly written. Everything worked (even the often-glitchy starter), and we've been using it almost nightly for two weeks now. It's just perfect, and I'm so glad I bought it!

    Great small grill

    I had bought a big grill which rotted out after only 5 years - it was not a Weber - so I decided to go back to a Weber and am extremely happy with this one. I no longer need a huge grill - but it is big enough to cook on for my family of 5 and also great to cook for only me. It heats up fast, easy to start and best part is that I put it together all by myself and then had steaks that night.

    Best grill I've ever owned.

    At just one month and a very rainy Spring I haven't had many opportunities to use my new Weber Grill. But so far it's turning out to be the best I've ever owned. Weber grills are not cheap but this product seems to deliver excellent performance and ease of use for the mony. The electronic spark lights instantly and pre-heat is rapid. Temperature recovery when the top is opened or food added is rapid. The built-in thermometer is a plus. Drop-down side tables of both sides will make winter storage easier. The built-in tank scale may be a bit difficult to load but at least provides propane supply information. Overall build quality seems quite good. My grill had been pre-assembled by my Ace Hardware so I am unable to comment easy of assembly. With a little care I think this product will provide years of service and I'm confident repair parts will be available if necessary.

    Excellent Product cooks great.

    Love this grill so far, cooks great. The only issue I have is that the standard propane tank sits directly on the deck/floor and the grill is on wheels, so the grill can't be moved with the tank underneath. Maybe I need a bigger tank, not sure. First time griller.

    Smelt smørret på panden, og rist rugbrødsternene af, indtil de er sprøde. Tag dem af, drys med salt og gem dem til senere.

    Tør panden med et stykke papir, smør panden med olie, og hæl derefter æggemassen på. Grill æggekagen i ca. 15 min., eller indtil den har sat sig.

    Lad dejen hæve tildækket til dobbelt størrelse (ca. 45 min.).

    Del derefter dejen forsigtigt i to lige store dele, og læg den på et meldrysset bord (gerne durum).

    Klargør grillen til indirekte, høj varme (220° C). Sæt kyllingeholderen midt på risten, læg låget på grillen, og grill nu i ca. 60 minutter. Tjek kernetemperaturen på kyllingen – den skal være 75 grader, for at kylingen er gennemstegt. Afkøl kyllingen.

    Fiskefrikadeller med hjemmelavet remoulade

    Ingredienser

    200 g røget laks

    1 spsk. hvedemel

    Smør og olie til stegning

    5 spsk. mayonnaise

    2 spsk. yoghurt naturel

    3 spsk. finthakkede pickles

    1 spsk. finthakkede kapers

    1 spsk. finthakkede syltede agurker

    1 spsk. fintsnittet purløg

    1 knsp. karrypulver

    1 spsk. gurkemeje

    Salt, peber og sukker

    I køkkenet

    Blend lyssej, torsk og laks med salt og peber i en foodprocessor. Tilsæt æg, mel og fløde, og blend det hele godt.

    Bland mayonnaise og yoghurt. Vend pickles, syltede agurker, kapers og purløg i. Smag til med salt, peber og evt. lidt sukker og lidt karry. Tilsæt gurkemeje, til farven er passende. Lad remouladen trække i ca. 1 time i køleskab.

    Ved grillen

    Klargør grillen til direkte, høj varme. Sæt panden i GBS®-risten, og lad panden varme godt op. Form farsen til små frikadeller med 2 spiseskeer, og steg dem i smør og olie på panden i 2-3 minutter på hver side.

    Servér frikadellerne med hjemmelavet remoulade, rugbrød og citronbåde.

    Indbagt plankebøf

    Ingredienser

    400 g kartoffelmos, evt. rester

    150 g bøf stroganoff, evt. rester

    2 spsk. hvedemel

    3 spsk. rasp (evt. panko rasp)

    Olie til stegning

    I køkkenet

    Form kugler på størrelse med en æbleskive af kold kartoffelmos. Tryk et hul i hver kugle med fingeren, og fyld hullet med bøf stroganoff (primært kød). Luk hullet til med kartoffelmos.

    Bland mel med salt og peber. Pisk ægget. Vend kartoffelkuglerne i melblandingen, derefter i ægget og til sidst i rasp. Ligges på køl i ca. 1 time så de sætter sig.

    Ved grillen

    Klargør grillen til direkte, høj varme. Sæt æbleskivepanden i GBS®-risten, og lad panden varme godt op. Hæl olie i æbleskivepandens huller, læg kartoffelkuglerne i, og steg dem til de er gyldne og sprøde. Vend kuglerne undervejs.

    Servér plankebøffen med en frisk salat.

    Sandwich med kyllingebryst, oliventapenade og brie

    Ingredienser

    2 skiver daggammelt brød efter eget ønske

    1 stk. kyllingebryst

    2 spsk. oliventapenade

    I køkkenet

    Skær brødet ud i 1 cm tykke skiver.

    Smør oliventapenaden på top og bund.

    Rens kyllingebrystet for hinder og scener.

    Skær brien i tynde skiver.

    Ved grillen

    Klargør grillen til direkte middelhøjvarme. Sæt vaffel- og sandwichjernet i GBS®-risten, og lad det varme op i 5-8 minutter.

    Læg kyllingebrystet i jernet, og grill det i ca. 5-8 min. Vend herefter jernet 180 grader, og grill kyllingebrystet videre i 8 min., til det når en kernetemperatur på 65 grader. Lad det hvile i min. 5 min., og skær det i skiver.

    Saml sandwichen med brie og grillet kylling.

    Læg den i sandwichjernet. Luk jernet godt sammen om brødet, og grill det i ca. 5-8 min. Vend jernet 180 grader, og grill sandwichen i yderligere 5-8 min. Tjek at overfladen har fået sprøde skorpe.

    Du kan også bruge oksekød eller skinke i stedet for kyllingebryst.

    Ristet torsk med maste kartofler og bacon

    Ingredienser

    800 g torskefilet

    1 spsk. olivenolie

    Salt og friskkværnet peber

    Saft af 1 citron

    700 g kartofler

    1 lille bdt. dild

    3 lille bdt. purløg

    4 spsk. olivenolie

    Salt og friskkværnet peber

    I køkkenet

    Skær fisken i fire stykker á 200 gram, og smør dem med olie på skinsiden. Krydr med salt og peber.

    Skrub kartoflerne, og kog dem møre i letsaltet vand. Mas de kogte kartofler let med en gaffel i en skål. Hak dild og purløg fint. Rør kartoflerne sammen med dild, purløg og olie, og krydr med salt og peber.

    Skær bacon i tern.

    Ved grillen

    Klargør grillen til direkte, høj varme. Sæt panden i GBS®-risten, og lad panden varme godt op. Rist bacon sprødt, og læg det på fedtsugende papir.

    Tag panden af, og klargør grillen til indirekte, høj varme. Læg derefter støbejernsristen i GBS®-risten. Læg fisken med skindsiden nedad på risten, og pres citronsaft henover. Grill fisken i ca. 8 min.

    Anret fisken med maste kartofler, som er drysset med grillet bacon.

    Når kartoflerne mases og krydres med urter og olivenolie, optager de masser af smag og bliver på én gang både bløde og sprøde.

    Sommerkranse (mini-berlinere)

    Ingredienser

    1 usprøjtet citron

    I køkkenet

    Lun mælken, opløs gæren heri. Riv skallen af citronen.

    Tilsæt alle ingredienser i mælkeblandingen, og ælt til dejen er ensartet. Lad dejen hæve i ca. 15 min. på et lunt sted – tildækket.

    Del dejen i to stykker, og tril dem ud til pølser (ca. 60 cm’s længde).

    Del pølserne i hver 16 stykker, og form dem til boller. Lad bollerne hæve i ca. 10 min. - tildækket.

    Stik hul i midten af hver bolle, og udvid hullet med pegefingrene, så der dannes en ring. Lad ringene hæve igen i ca. 10 min. – tildækket.

    Ved grillen

    Klargør grillen til direkte, middelhøj varme. Sæt wokken i GBS®-risten, tilføj palmin eller olie, og lad det smelte langsomt (fyld kun wokken lidt under halvt op med olie eller palmin). Kog nu kransene gyldne i wokken, op 2 sider og læg dem derefter på fedtsugende papir. Vend ringene i sukker, mens de endnu er fedtede.

    Tilsæt evt. kanel til sukkeret.

    Spaghetti Carbonara

    Ingredienser

    500 g penne pasta

    12 tykke skiver røget bacon

    Et lille bdt. frisk timian

    4 æggeblommer, pasteuriserede

    2 gode håndfulde revet parmesanost

    Havsalt og friskkværnet peber

    I køkkenet

    Kog pastaen (gem lidt af kogevandet).

    Skær bacon i mindre stykker.

    Skær squashen i skiver på den lange led, og pensl skiverne med olie. Hak forårsløget i grove stykker. Pluk og hak timianbladene.

    Pisk æggeblommer, fløde og halvdelen af parmesanosten sammen med en gaffel. Tilsæt peber og lidt salt

    Ved grillen

    Klargør grillen til direkte, høj varme. Læg squashskiverne på risten, og grill dem på begge sider, til de har grillsteger. Sæt wokken i GBS®-risten, lad wokken varme op, og hæld lidt olivenolie i. Steg bacon sprødt og mørkt. Tilsæt squash i grove stykker forårsløg og sort peber. Drys timian i, og rør det hele sammen.

    Tag wokken af grillen. Tilsæt 3 spsk. af kogevandet fra pastaen og derefter den sammenpiskede flødesauce. Smag til med salt og peber.

    Hæld saucen over den kogte pasta og servér straks. Drys med resten af parmesanosten.

    Erstat evt. squash og forårsløg med andre grøntsager.

    Skræl de hvide asparges, og skær dem i mindre stykker på skrå. Skær ligeledes de grønne asparges i mindre stykker på skrå. Skær forårsløg i tynde ringe, og hak kørvel groft. Pluk kyllingekødet fra den kogte kylling i mindre stykker. Find de øvrige ingredienser frem.

    Ved grillen

    Klargør grillen til direkte, høj varme. Læg de ferske kyllingestykker i stegegryden, og tilføj de øvrige ingredienser. Sæt gryden i GBS®-risten, og læg låg på. Kog kyllingestykkerne i 15 min. Klargør grillen til indirekte, høj varme, og kog kyllingen videre i fonden i ca. 30 min. Tag kyllingestykkerne op, og køl af. Sigt fonden, og gem den til saucen.

    Klargør grillen til direkte, høj varme. Placer stegegryden i GBS®-risten. Smelt smør i gryden, og rør mel i, til det samler sig til en melbolle. Pisk den sigtede kyllingefond i, indtil evt. klumper forsvinder. Tilsæt til sidst fløde. Kog saucen godt igennem, mens der piskes. Vend både de grønne og hvide asparges og det plukkede kyllingekød i saucen. Tilsæt til sidst forårsløg og kørvel, og smag til med salt og peber.
